drowsiness?

how long does this last for?
I used to be on this - elavil 10mg and lots more for migraines up until may/june this year and decided to go back on it last night 25mg (to help sleep and IC this time) at 8pm only now is 11am and can't stay awake! how long does the drowsiness last? i tried it so many years ago that i can't remember that anymore!

guess i should start at 10mg for the first week and see if the side effects subside......

You really should be talking with your doctor about how you are feeling, especially if you're still feeling sleepy now.

am seeing doctor tomorrow but the drowsiness wore off at about noon. tryin 10mg today and then increase it when drowsiness in morning starts to wear off

just checked and i used to be on 50- 75mg in 2004 for migraines. guess i thought 10-25mg wouldn't make me drowsy then!!

I started Elavil about 3mos ago. The first week was okay, but the second I was really tired. That lasted about a week. I'm on 25mg and it doesn't make me drowsy anymore, not even at night after I take it. Thinking of upping it to 50mg after the first of the year. Also, have you ever tried Maxalt for your migraines. Its a lifesaver for me. Pretty expensive, but none of the others worked for me. This causes no drowsiness or ill effects. Just thought I'd let know about it if you don't already.

I take Elavil 25mg a night, When I started it I was sleepy for about a week, but now it does not bother me...

I just started 10 mg of Elavil last Thursday. 30 minutes within taking the tablet, I am ready for bed. I had to cut my tablet in 1/2 because I was just too sleepy. Now, on the 5th day, I am feeling very dizzy. I know that dizziness can be a side effect, but even after the 5th day? I feel like I need to go home from work. Is this normal? Do I need to only take 2.5 mg? I see my uro next Wednesday.

did the dizziness start yday or when you started on elavil? I would mention it to your doctor...

The dizziness was 5 days after being on Elavil. I called the doctor's but the nurse didn't call back. I haven't had that feeling since.
