Remeron and flares

Hi,

I have been on Remeron for depression for the past 2 months and I have had many flares. I know that stress can bring flares on and I have been under a lot of stress lately. I was just wondering if the chemical make up of Remeron itself might just be causing these flares. I take Elmiron and Vistaril for my IC. I take 400 mg. of Elmiron and 25 mg. of Vistaril at bedtime. I'll watch for replies from anyone that has shared experience with this Remeron.

Hi there-I was also on Remeron for a long period of time. I was prescribed the Remeron by my psychiatrist because, I was having a really hard time gaining weight (I was losing weight for no reason). During that time I had major flare ups ALL the time. It was horrible. I eventually stopped taking it because the flare ups were way too bad and I ended up gaining A LOT of weight (around 50lbs. and I am still trying to lose it-I have lot about 20lbs. now). I would talk to your doctor about your flare ups and see what he/she thinks. My personal experience with the medication was a bad one. Hope that I could be a help. :rolleyes:

Thank you for your reply, Ashelliak. Hope I got the name right. I just increased my Remeron to 30 mgs a few days ago, but the flares have been worse since shortly after taking it. I sure don't need the weight gain. I have been watching my weight and it is stable, but I can't seem to lose an ounce and I try. I am going to take some of my bladder antibiotic beginning today in case I have a low grade infection. For me, any bacteria really make me symptomatic. I'll keep this board posted as to the outcome of this newest situation.
