Does anyone know of a support group in the
western suburbs of Chicago?

don't know about Western Suburbs, but there is supposed to have been one starting at Lutheran General in Park Ridge, IL. That's Northwest. Do a search on this site b/c someone posted about it this past summer i think.

hello ladies!

i'm from the NW suburbs (itasca-elk grove-arlington heights) area. I was wondering if you ladies have had any success with your urologists and if you like them, etc. I am looking for a new one, I haven't been very impressed (felt relief) from any of the 3 I've seen. I'm on #3 and she's nice, but recommends physical therapy for PFD which she thinks will help with my IC (i am HIGHLY doubting it). If you could let me know, pm me or post here, that would be great! I have insurance and everything and I'm willing to travel! Thankyou!

hi jen27,

I don't currently see a uro, but in the past have liked Janet Tomezko, urogyn, at Northwestern. Have also heard very good things about the uro practice at Loyola Maywood, Dr. Mary Pat Fitzgerald and Dr. Brubaker.

I have to say that PT is the thing that most significantly helped me gain control of my symptoms and deal with the chronic pain and urinary symptoms.

Best of Luck!

Thank You very much! I'm currently @ Loyola (well not NOW, but you know what I mean) and they recommended PT....I was kind of leary, but after reading success stories, i'm excited! Thanks again!

I live way past the farthest western suburbs (I do travel the 2 1/2 hours to Northwestern to see my uro anyway though). I would be interested in a group in the western suburbs.

I live about half way between Bloomington and Champaign. If you are ever in the area, let me know and I can recommend a great doc here in Gibson City.

i live in stering...am new to this board...haven't even posted my story because i don't have the strength to write it one more time to someone...in any case...i have a superfab uro...his name is Jay Burstein and he is in Dekalb. My gyno is great too..I have a chronic gardnerella infection and my IC is out of control. I have been referred now to Dr. Kennedy at the Iowa City Vulvodinia Clinic. I can't get in until March 12th. I'm not sure I will be alive then if I continue this way. In any case....Dr. Burstein specializes in IC and really believes in treating the symptoms. He's awesome. I'm just in a really bad flare with a bad infection. I need a lot of help. Otherwise I am healthy in every way. I've always been athletic, owned a bicycle shop until a couple of years ago...have a great job as a ..yeah get this...director of drug testing...and have contemplated leaving work because i can't think straight sometimes...although when i am busy, i am in less pain. it's making me crazy! well, i just needed to write to my central state friends.
greetings from good ol' sterling....shelley
