i don't know what is going on with me

I was diagnosied (sp) with IC and have been having instillations for about 2 weeks now...i get a day or so relief but i went to the dr on thursday and had yet ANOTHER bladder and kidney infection so i could not get my treatment. I have been in horrible pain now for about 3 days.... I go back this afternoon but i think that i still have the infection. I called the dr and she still wants me to come in. So i am keeping my fingers crossed that the infection is gone so that i can get my treatment. I am going on a long trip on wednesday for Thanksgiving and don't want to be in pain. I am really just venting but if anybody has had these kinds of problems then i would love to hear some encouragement. Thanks for listening.

Hello! Welcome to the ICN!! Yes, I have had that happen many times. The cathaters can cause infections. Since it has happened so often, you may consider asking your Dr. to place you on an antibiotic for prophallactic (sp?) use while you are doing these. They may put you on a low dose daily until you get thru these, or they may give you some to take just on the days you do the treatments. (Some ICers take them this way right after sex, and some take them daily.) I take 100mg Macrobid daily to prevent UTIs, since I got 10 Uti, kidney, and bladder infections last year. But, since going on this in Feb, I have only gotten a few this year.
