Yikes... we had this noon seminar with lunch today. It was pizza, sodas, and waters. I had some white (no tomato sauce) pizza and a water.
Anyway, before I went, I debated... do I take my mid-day meds (a methadone and a Valium) BEFORE the talk or AFTER. Taking them before meant that I might doze off during the talk; taking them AFTER meant that I might get spasms from sitting and interrupt the whole thing by getting up and down to go to the bathroom. Since Hubby and I work in the same department here, he was coming to the same meeting and said to take them BEFORE, so I did.
Well, just as I feared, I started dozing off. I was sitting next to hubby though, so I could just lean on him a little. He lets me do this and also, I heard him tell my boss I'd taken my medication so I was sleepy.
THEN, it happened. I completely fell asleep, and my water bottle fell out of my hand, to the ground!!! It made a huge noise in the middle of the seminar and splashed all over the floor. Luckily, it was carpeted so it didn't really splash many people, but it did get some people's pant legs at the bottom.
UGGHHHH.... Hubby said he didn't realize my bottle was open. Normally he grabs for it if we have meetings together and I start to doze off, so this doesn't happen, but somehow our "system" didn't work today and I made a TOTAL mess in the middle of the seminar...
ACK!!!!!!
People seemed good natured and even laughed, but it was really embarrassing for me....
To medicate or not to medicate, that is the question from now on....

Oh my ! I can relate to that somewhat. When I take the ambien at night - I so have the temptation to get a few more things done before I fall asleep. It never works. I've been embarassed by my postings on these boards when I've looked at it the next day. Couldn't do without them, but I sure need to be careful with them.

I'm sure it will be forgotten in a day or so. At least hubby didn't have to nudge you to tell you were snoring...... ;) which I did once.

Oh wow Jen, I'm SO sorry. If you didnt take your meds you'd be in pain, so you're darned if ya do and darned if ya dont. I dont have the answer, but just wanted to know I'm thinking about ya! I'm sure you're mortified, but I bet every single one of those people have dozed in a seminar at least once in their life.
Hugs, Sandy

It seems half the people there didn't even notice... unfortunately, drinks are being spilled at those things all the time, since they are so crowded and there are no tables (you have to hold your food, etc in your lap to eat), and so as a result, nobody even really noticed. I asked some lab personnel and they said, "A drink spilled?" as if they didn't even KNOW... so I think I'm in the clear.
Still... it's embarrassing anyway. UGH.
Not to mention the fact that I'm out of breakthrough pills again, AND the pain clinic swears they faxed in a new script for Lyrica to the pharmacy, but the pharmacy swears they haven't gotten anything -- I have ONE Lyrica left for tonight, and if I don't get it I'm going to be in even worse pain. The last time there was a screwup over Lyrica like this, I ran out and was confined to my couch over a weekend.... NOT GOOD.
NOT A GOOD DAY AT ALL.

Aww! That stinks, but remember that we all have "accidents" from time to time....I'm one of the biggest clutzes EVER and have dropped plenty of things with no real good reason! lol
I doubt anyone even noticed........
I seem to face that decision alot too......medicate? or not medicate? The valium helps so much but it makes me SOOO drowsy. Can't win, ehh?
hugs,
Kara

Been there too. Have had some bad pain days where I look at my handwriting and it looks like a serial killer wrote it or I am working on work at home and I write half sentences at 45 degree angles.

Jen,
I was driving 70 miles an hour.I ran over one of those orange cones the other day and it got stuck under the under carriage of my car. I did not see the cone just the square part that has no color. It looked like paper. But I ran over it and it was stuck. I pulled over and tried to pull it out (on the highway)! I could not reach it because I am so small and my arms could not reach. I looked up and there was this really cute man standing over me. He asked if I needed help. He looked like a professional something. Suit and Nice Long Coat. Anyway he pulled out the cone. He said if it was his wife, he'd want my Husband to stop for her and help her. His name was Dan. He was so nice. I could not have gotten it out without help. I stopped at Dunn tire as soon as I got off of the highway and told them what happened and the guys laughed at me. They asked how could miss the orange cone and I tried to explain that the bottom of it was facing me and I could not see what it was and had no way of moving because there were cars on both sides of me and behind me. You could tell they didn't believe me. They checked out my car anyway and it was ok.
I understand embarrassment. It happens to all of us at times!
You are not alone with this one!

LOL... Kara, I just had to laugh at the cone story a bit, but it's true. I would probably do something like that if the bottom was facing me too. I am SO glad you got help from a nice man... it's always nice to see there ARE still some ANGELS out there...

I've done something like that at work - think we all have! Recently had a very bad morning, took pain meds starting around 3a.m. suppose to take them every 4-6 hours; pain was so bad that I took another 1 at 6a.m. (still functioning- drive into work with husband) would of stayed home but boss was on vacation so had to be at work) by 10 pain was really bad and here I was trying to work on the computer, and answering the phone -luckily, it was someone I knew because whatever I said just didn't make any sense and I've could've gotten into big trouble with the bosses if it gotten out.

Sheesh... I think we're figuring out that sometimes work and IC just do NOT mix!!! I hate that everyone has this trouble, but it makes me feel better that I'm not the only one who occasionally screws up at work due to either IC itself or the medication that goes along with it....
