I have been having a wicked awful flare up for the past month or two. I just got married and it started on my honeymoon (yay)!

My main symptoms right now are:
-Urgency/EXTREME frequency
-Burning with urination
-General pelvic pain

These symptoms occur mainly at night right before I am about to go to sleep. I haven't been able to sleep for weeks now because of the frequency and the pain. My doctor just put me on Flomax and gave me some Ambien (which he stressed he didn't want me to become dependent on). We also did another rescue solution with Elmiron mixed in, which didn't help at all and also burned like hellfire.

I had a hydro about 3 months ago before the wedding and I am amazed it didn't last as long as it usually does (6 to 8 months). My doc said we could do another one even though it has been only 3 months, but I'm wondering if it is even worth it. Do they stop working after awhile? I've had one in 1999, one in March of 2005, one in Oct. of 2005, and then the one in Aug. of 2006. Is that a lot in the grand scheme of things? It doesn't seem like it. But I'm in such pain here, I'm on the verge of cutting my own bladder myself!!

In my 31+ years with IC, I have had forty --- and all have helped anywhere from six months to just under two years. I may be the exception, but as long as it works, I'll continue to have them.

my mom had great success with hydros. I have heard other rave how good they worked for them.

My first two worked great and lasted at least a year! Had my 3rd one 4 weeks ago and have had nothing but pain ever since:confused:

My hydro only helped my frequency for about a fortnight. I would never have another one for IC symptoms, but I've read that a lot of people get great benefit from them....Donna obviously being way up there at the top of the list! :)

I got a lot of relief on the first one, nothing on the second one. I wanted to try again. The Dr. said once you don't get relief you won't on the next one either but he did it to appease me. He was right. Nothing. I don't plan to do anymore unless there's a future reason to do a look see.

I've had 11 hydros in the past 14 years and they always help me. Some last longer than others but when DMSO stops working for me I have a hydro and then resume DMSO treatments. Hydros and DMSO have been a lifesaver for me.

I have had several in the last 5 years. Had some success with them. (usually for about 6 months before having to have another one) No problems with any except with the last one- had lots of bleeding but that stopped (had blood clots); and still having urine retention after almost a month.
