Hello,
I have been on an antibiotic called augmentin for three days and now I am burning in my vulva and discomfort. I think i may have a yeast infection. I took a diflucan for yeast infection, but should I stop the antibiotic and switch to something else. My vulvodynia and IC went into remission, but now it is coming back. Plus me and my husband used a condom the other night. So I am not sure which one the pain is coming from, the antibiotics or the condom. Can anyone tell me what is safe to use as a cream to help with the discomfort?
Thanks in advance for the help!
Maryann

Augmentin can be irritating to tissues. Amoxicillin is very similar and if your doctor would switch to it that could help. Augmentin is Amoxicillin plus another ingredient, clavulanic acid. It is an effective drug but can be irritating to tissues that are sensitive.

Yeast commonly causes burning. You may want to make sure your yeast is sensitive to diflucan if diflucan doesn't work out...it doesn't treat all yeast! I recommend always taking a probiotic when on an antibiotic...and not only to prevent yeast but also because your digestive system needs those friendly bacteria and you don't need a yeast, digestive tract problem flare to replace the one that bacteria was causing!!! Hope you feel a lot better soon!!! :grouphug:
