had surgery oct 12th. hydro and DMSO. diagnosed IC
after i came hm, i was in SOOOO much pain. was told it would pass. well here we are 4 weeks later (haven't gotten paid for 3 wks now!). i have not been able to cook, drive, teach school, take my daughter places, grocery shop, go out to eat...nothing. i have to stay in bed, keeps my pain to 5/6...
7+ if i get up. if i sit, it's on a pillow due to knife-like pain.

it's house arrest with added TORTURE.

did anyone have this happen after hydro or DMSO surgery?

TREAT THE PAIN FIRST.
then you can get your life back enough to get the word out about IC.
tell everyone the name IC and the symptoms. don't hide it!

i got new pain med yesterday b/c urol referred me to pain spec.
kadian and lyrica. takes a few days to work, but i am walking better. yeah.
i start physiotherapy next wk for 6 wks for PFD. that should be a big help.

i take elmiron, my best hope for the IC-hair loss not too fun.
also, hydroxyzine, levsin sl, wellbutrin xr, and amitryptaline. got some vaginal valium today. supposed to work for the terrible spasms. my abdomen looks like i'm pregnant. ugh

i have great support and help from family and boyfriend. and 3 friends who have IC too. luckily theirs isn't chronic. thank God for laptop and crockpot!
praying for all of you,
lauren

I can't really answer your question because I actually felt better after my cysto (no hydrodistention), however, you may want to go back in and get checked out? I've read a few stories on here where people have had the hydro's and their bladder "sprung a leak". I'm sorry you are feeling so bad. :(

I'm another who benefits from hydrodistention.

Some have reported it took two months to recover. However, I think you should be feeling a little better after four weeks. I have never had a DMSO treatment at the same time as a hydro; always waited at least two weeks afterwards for the first treatment.

I have to agree that it may be time to be checked to be sure there isn't a problem.

Warm healing thoughts,
Donna

My first two hydro/cysto's worked great! Pain free within a week and all well; however, the third one that I had 3 weeks ago is a whole different story!!!! I have had pain/urgency/frequency EVERY DAY since having it done!! Can't take pain meds because they make the spasms worse! I pretty much stay hooked up to my TENS unit 24/7 and it does seem to help a little but I'm getting pretty tired of WIRES everywhere all the time!!!! Anyway, if you have access to a TENS unit, you might want to try that! It really does help. I know how you feel about being on "house Arrest" though. It really sucks when something that is supposed to make you feel better, makes you worse:cussing: !! My thoughts are with you! Hope you are feeling better very soon!!!

I was okay after my cysto/hydro, but I reacted TERRIBLY to DMSO treatments. They caused my pain to become so much worse -- I have never really been the same since I had them, and my husband swears they did permanent damage to my bladder (two urologists have also said this could be possible). Ugh...

Some people do great with DMSO though; I guess my bladder just didn't like it.

I was in severe pain for 5 1/2 weeks after hydro/cysto. Then I went to the regular old pain--no improvement--bummer. I have to agree with you on the laptop--I lay in bed with my best friend (my heating pad) and my laptop. I also have tried a couple of frozen meals that you drop into the crockpot. Haven't found any that are all that good but it's food on the table. :)
