Hello Everyone,
I was just diagnosed with IC. My doctor thought I had it, but wanted to do a procedure called Bladder Dialation with a Harvard Coctail. Well dont know if it worked or not because after procedure I went home from hospital and noticed my stomach was swelling. Went back to hospital to find out that my bladder had a leak in it.. The procedure had expanded my bladder so much and I had a weak spot on it. It kind of busted. So now I am home after 5 days in hospital with a catheter in me to keep my bladder drained so the weak spot can heal.. I have to leave it in for 10 days .. today makes 7.. I really feel like im going crazy. I dont know how I got IC i have never really had any of the symptoms people say they have until right after I had 4 kidney stones at once. and in the last year I have had ALOT of depression with loosing my home in hurricane katrina so maybe thats what set it off.. who knows.. but I found this site and wanted to share my story. please keep me in your prayers. and for now on you will all be in mine!!!!!! ronda

Hi Ronda, sorry you are going through so much but youve found a good place to share at! I know what you mean about not having the symptoms others have/had. I started out 20 yrs ago w/only urethral burning, then back in 2003 it started the urgency/frequency, having to "go" every 10 minutes from 7 a.m to 1 a.m and then start all over again. What I am getting at is you are not alone with this :) Read up on the ic handbook www.ic-network.com/handbook it can truly give you some good information. Check out the message boards a bit to comfortable with them. Although not as easy as it sounds, try your best to rest as much as possible and keep the stress down, that can really help not just w/pain but peace of mind ;) Take care!

I didnt have that happen but I have heard about people's bladders bursting from the hydro although it is NOT often. Theres a post somewhere on the boards here of someone that had that happen. May have to use the search at try to find it if u r interrested.

I have now had forty hydrodistentions and have always been warned that this is a remote possibility. I have heard of perhaps two people who have had this happen. Fortunately, they healed well.

Warm healing thoughts,
Donna

Glad you found us too. :) I know its not an easy thing to go through, especially when first diagnosed. I spent (and still spend) a lot of my free time researching. Its kind of "my thing" to keep me motivated. Its great your hubby is there to support ya!

Congrats on your recent marriage! It's so important to have a supportive spouse, and it sounds like you do!

From reading other people's experience with the start of IC, it seems to often begin with a physical or emotional trauma. With losing your home in Katrina, plus the kidney stones, you seem to fit right in with that theory!

On the positive side, most of us do find our way to better days following diagnosis. I bet you & your new hubby have lots of those 'health' days ahead!
