Does anyone else not only feel like they go too often, but they produce too much urine?? My only symptoms are frequency and bladder pressure on maybe 1-2 days out of a month, when I will need to go every 1-2 hours. I can't relate the symptoms to my cycle or the food I eat. But, it seems when I do urinate, I urinate a lot. I haven't actually measured it, but it seems like the volume is just as much (if not more) than the volume on a normal day. But when I read the posts here, most of you seem to complain that you only go a small amount.

I've searched for excess urine production on the web and can only come up with diabetes. I've had blood tests, which I assume would show if I have diabetes.

I will also mention that I have not been diagnosed by cysto/hydro, although I keep debating on having one. One doctor diagnosed me with IC by my symptoms, while 2 other doctors feel I only have overactive bladder, because I do not have any pain. I am currently on Elmiron and hydroxyzine. Detrol LA does not help. And like I said before, I can't relate the sypmtoms to diet.

Any ideas?

It could be possible to have large amounts of urine from diabeties insipidus. This is a condition where your body excretes more water than normal, and can cause dehydration..you will also have excessive thirst due to the body's need from dehydration. This diabetes has nothing to do with blood sugar.

At the same time, diabetes mellitus is the diabetes that is involed with sugar. It can also cause excessive urination, excessive thirst, and hunger. You said you've had blood tests done. Did you have a blood test for sugar?

I would keep a diary of how much liquids you take in and then measure how much you void. If there's a big output compared to your input, I would take it to your doctor.

Hope you get this figured out. Good luck!

I have alot of volume too when I'm in a flare. I'll HAVE to go every 15 min or so and I will go alot. I can't see how my bladder can produce so much when I haven't drank anything. Its really weird, each time I go when I'm having a urgency flare I will go alot. I can't explain this and neither can my doctor. I just don't see how that much pee can come out each time. I've never measured it either but it seems like I'm peeing forever. I've also had my blood sugar tested several times and came back okay. Good Luck!

Maybe you should measure as you never know...
then take results to your doctor

hmm, leanne you only have symptoms once or twice a month yet you have been diagnosed with IC? interesting, it just shows how complex the diagnosis can be although I haven't heard of any people not having any symptoms all month and then only some days.

Just remembered something. I actually had one of these flares one day while I was waiting for the doctor to see me(she was running 2hrs late) and I kept using a specimin cup so they could measure it but after about the 4th one the nurse told me that they didn't need it. She acted like it was not a big deal so I guess I just never thought much about it. My Uro said it was normal to have that when your bladder is spasming. I still don't understand it though.

Sound right what sweetangel said, Measure you volume and then you have something to work with your doctor. Hope you find out what is going on.
