Can one get a new infection when you are on cipro.?? makes me wonder .. lol. I hate to call my Dr. but, i think i might just have her run a new test to make sure this isn't a infection.. i have got to the point that i can't tell a infection from a burn from the IC .. i had a cystoscope last MOnday.. and all she really found was , a badly inflamed bladder .. so i am now on a diet for ic.. and takeing all these meds.. i need all the help i can get .. thanks in advance for all you help ..

Hey there karendy -:welcome: to the ICN!!! I moved your post so you would get more replies to your own thread! ;)

I know just how you feel - I went from someone who took no medications aside from Motrin or Tylenol every now and then, to a pill schedule of 3 times a day etc etc. Ugh!! It was overload to be sure!! LMAO!!! :lmao:

Did your doctor culture your urine to see just what bug they were dealing with? If not, maybe the one that has taken up residence in your bladder is resistant to Cipro, or a new one starting is resistant to it. If they culture it they can usually tailor the med to the bug - what get's rid of it the best, etc.

I would call my doc - I'd probably say, sorry to call, but feels like I am getting another infection, I have my usual hallmarks of an infection, could we take a look and see if that's what's going on? And go from there, and might want to ask for a culture so you can be sure to get the right antibiotic for the job!!!

Hugs, and hope you feel better soon!! Glad you found us!

With burning from IC it is often from acidic urine, tight muscles...pelvic floor dysfunction (PFD), yeast infections, Urinary track infections, or nerve dammage. I hope it isn't the last one since that is a hard one to treat.

I don't blame you for wanting a UTI test.

yes it is always possible to get an infection even while on an antibiotic but it is also possible to get yeast infection and believe me amoung IC pateints yeast often causes burning with urination before any other symptom.
