View Full Version : leg pain?
My girlfriend was diagnosed with IC about a year and a half ago. Her pain was always in the background but recently it has made a push to the front. She used to feel pain only in her lower back, but now she feels it in her middle back and down her legs. She says that after standing for a while or leaning forward for some extended period of time, her legs and back throb. I've been trying to help her with her pain by giving her massages and encouraging her to eat right, but the pain is still there. Everything I have read has only described lower back pain. She recently had an MRI because the doctor thought that the problem could be a slipped disc in her spine or something along those lines. But lo and behold, the results came back and the doctor said she was fine. So I guess my question is...has anyone else experienced pain in their legs? Is this a common thing?

I have lower back pain and leg pain! I noticed that my legs hurt and feel a little weak when my lower back hurts. I'm glad your started this thread because I wanted to know if anyone else with IC has back/leg problems.
Does anybody know if this is part of IC? I haven"t had a chance to talk to my Uro about this.

I had major inner thigh and lower back pain as well. I went to physical therapy and it definately helped!

One thing to consider is the shoes that she wears, If they are not right improper footwear can cause back and leg pain.

Has she had blood tests to be certain she doesn't have deficiencies in potassium, calcium, and magnesium? A deficiency in any one of those can cause leg pain.

she was diagnosed with ic and she wears shoes that are "cute" like flip flops and such...but ill pass the deficiency problem idea on to her. she has tried most of the drugs out there, elmiron, elavil, etc. but nothing seems to help. physical therapy helped out, but she cant afford to go anymore. i give her massages and that seems to relieve pain for a little while (or she is just telling me that to make me feel better lol). the only thing she has found to work is muscle relaxants. but i dont want her to screw up other things by taking too many of them. i think she might have been mis-diagnosed because none of the drugs out there have helped her conditions at all. any ideas? thanks for the replies already given
