Our house is high enough that we've never had a real water problem --- I hope all of you are doing okay with so many parts of the Northwest having flooding.
I really feel sorry for people on the coast whose houses are in real danger of washing away.
Warm, dry hugs to all of you,
Donna

Yes, I am high enough too that I am not getting any flooding. Why is it we don't get enough rain for awhile and then it makes up for lost time? It always seems to happen that way. Sept. and Oct. were relatively dry and now Nov. is breaking records. Oh well! It could be worse.

To all of you in Oregon & Washington;
I was watching the news this morning as I was getting ready for work, and I was thinking about all of you! Hopefully, most of you live on higher ground.
Right now, here it is the first part of November, and its 87 degrees, sun is shining. No rain in sight. Send some over to us, but not all of it.

Are you sure you don't want some of this water???? Tonight we had about 1/2'' of hail fall--they were huge--about the size of small peas!!! My dogs were going ballistic with all the noise it made. :)

We had a power outage, and being on a well, when the power goes ut so does the pump and NO WATER! It's back on now, obviously (since I am on the internet!) I slept through the whole windstorm...We had 43mph winds...I don't know how I missed it!!!

I had an awful time trying to get home last night. The wind was so bad that it was making the rain come down sideways and talk about huge puddles. Haven't lost power yet, but many of the parents of my patients have been unable to visit their children due to power outages and road closures, its a mess up here in Portland. I hope it ends soon I have a very important football game (civil war for those of you who follow Oregon and Oregon State football) and it would be a lot less fun if it is raining as bad as it has been. Hope there is an end in sight :) . Actually it wasn't as bad today so maybe this is the let up we have been hoping for.

We got hit the worst in Jefferson county they said. The wind was blowing so hard one direction (over 64mph) that it felt like an earthquake or a trainwreck. Then it all of a sudden switched directions and did the same thing the other way! Scary! We have 50-100 year old trees down over the road tearing out the railings going over the mountains and over the canal. Really dramatic damage. The ferry terminals were raised up a few inches so now when you go across the dock it's not level.

We actually had some sunshine yesterday. It was pretty windy for a while, but thankfully our power didn't go off. We're on a well too so we're pretty much out of luck during power outages. I always fill a couple of pitchers with water as soon as the power goes off so we have drinking water --- The pressure tank will let me get some, and we get a bucket of water from the swimming pool so we can flush the toilet. I think the worst thing is not having heat!

P.S. GO, DUCKS!!!!!!

My house is solar powered ( I am also hooked up to Puget Sound Energy) and all my appliances are propane, and I have a wood stove, so storms don't bother my household...Wed we got 2.75 inches of rain and the the Big Beef Creek that goes through my 5 acres is way up...we should see salmon any day now...as of last nights news report there were still 11,000 people without power on Bainbridge Island, Sammmamish and up near Bellingham...there were power crews from Cananda, Oregon and Idaho helping restore power and clean up all the downed trees....

Yes, I think we had about 5,000 without power, thank God we weren't one of them.
We have propane appliances and a woodstove as well. Thank God! I'm on a well and I think that is on electric unfortunately. I'm in a rental so I would change that if I could.
Since we have "go ducks" and "go beavers" I'm just gonna say...
GO Platypuses!!!!!:smile tee

We also had a wind storm here in Texas- winds up to 60 mph. Electric was out - don't know how long as I was at work. Tree knock down. Trash cans, etc. Luckily for us, it was our trash day the day before so our can was empty. The winds kept blowing up till Thursday evening. Today everything is quiet. It was just cold this morning. Some idiot didn't turn on the heat when they went to bed last night (we're not saying who this person is). We are suppose to have a cold front sometime this week. Get down in the 30's at night/early morning's and be up to about 60-70's during the day. (I know for those of you up North, that's not cold (its not for us either-- this is unusual weather for us, though).

I just recently found this site that I would really love to find someone in or around Pacific Washington to chat with and share ups and downs with.

Hi Ruth :)
My best friend growing up lived in Pacific. We used to ride horses all along the areas that now have apartments and strip malls. :) It was the best times of my life. :)
I think her mom still has their house there and turned it into a home for the elderly.
I'm near Pt.Townsend but I'd love to talk if you like. :)
Take care,
Moonheart

Just a friendly reminder that we will be having our "3rd" support group meeting this Thursday at St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, Wa. We will have a nurse doing a question and answer on pain management. Love to see you there. :)

I'm in the Western Washington Islands, and our power was out for 4 days - my biggest fear is always being without the heating pad which I sleep with every night .. but we used hot water bottles and made it ok. My insison from having my interstim out over a month agao (i only had it in 2 month ago but it wouldn't stay closed) got an absess which ruptured during the power outage. It's amazing how dependent we are on power - even hard to get in touch with doctors. I'm a farmer and our farm is very flooded, but I think it will be ok despite some big looses due to he snow and wind.
Merry Christmas everyone!
