Going Crazy?

A week ago today I was diagnosed via Cystoscopy to have urethral polyps, or inflammatory polyps which are to be treated with Macrobid. I have been on the Macrobid for a week today, and I can not say I'm having any relief at all from my symptoms. As a matter of fact my symptoms seemed to have worsened. I have bladder pain upon filling, my nocturia is back (it was pretty good for a while), frequency, urethral burning while urinating, and for a while after, and hesitancy. I am going crazy!!! I put a call into my uro's office today to tell them that things seem to be worse so I'm waiting for a call back. I'm really starting to lose it again. I'm looking for work too, and so the stress of getting tight in the money department isn't helping either I'm sure. Aside from what I've already done, I'm at a loss. I can't seem to get motivated to clean house, do projects etc... because of the constant symptoms. I don't know where to go from here. I also am on BCP's and wonder if I should try to come off of them to see how I feel. I'm on the last pill in the cycle today anyway, but then of course I will menstruate so the symptoms may get worse before getting better. I've been following the diet pretty well still, but maybe I should strip everything back down and start from the beginning again. I'm not taking Elavil or Atarax although I have a some in house because when the uro told me that maybe the inflammation in my urethra could be causing my symptoms I wanted to be able to tell the difference in pain levels. I'm starting to think I need a second opinion. Does anyone out there have anything to add to all of this because I am starting to go crazy with all of this. Sorry for the long dialogue. :help: :bonk:

Well you really need to talk to your Doctor if you feel things are getting worse. I have not been officially diagnosed but I understand how your feeling.

Ya I'm waiting for a call back from the uro. My symptoms fluctuate all the time so it's really hard to pin down exactly what's going on sometime. I haven't been taking as much Prelief lately. My urines acid level is always okay though when I get cultured. Thanks for your input Prettyeyes.

Okay now I'm really baffled. My uro did not return my phone call yesterday or today. It has now been two days. Does anyone have any advice on this one. Should I get a second opinion or call my uro again? I'm not too keen on the assistant at my uro's office. She treats me like I'm a bother or something. It's driving me crazy that I can't get some answers. Don't they care that we are in pain? I've been on the antibiotics for over a week now, and no change at all.

Call your uro again!! It could be the antibiotic creating some of that irritation. We each seem to have different tolerances to various meds.

Thank you Jill. I didn't know that the antibiotics could be the culprit, but I had a sneaking suspision. I did call again this morning, and talked with the assistant. She told me the uro was out of office, and that she is waiting for her to call in. I feel like such a bother here, there, and everywhere.

You have to stick up for yourself when it comes to these doctors!!!! The most important thing is that you get some relief. I had dental work done and was on an antibiotic for over 10 days(had trouble finding one I wasn't allergic to) - it definitely caused irritiation. Hope you feel better.

Uro's assistant just called me back. They changed my script to Bactrim, and told me to take Urised long term too. Thank you everyone for your support. Hopefully tonight I'll get to sleep more soundly. That's if my cat doesn't meow constantly like he's been prone to do lately. Grrrr. Nothing like a disgruntled old cat and a disgruntled old bladder mixed together.lolololol
