Here's a funny but sad story for you. I had to go away for four days for a conference in LA and hired a great petsitter to come take care of my cat. She was supposed to visit twice a day to feed and medicate. Gizzy met her and seemed to be okay (i.e., let herself be petted for a few mintues before hissing and running away), and the references were great. The first day I was gone, the petsitter called to say that my cat was growling and snarling and hissing, and she couldn't get close enough to touch her, never mind to medicate her. She tried again later that day, and the next morning, but it was so bad that my mother had to drive from PA to CT to take care of the kitty, who happily greeted her at the door and sat on her lap that night.

Spoiled kitty? Yes, but she's old and set in her ways. Guess I'll need a better approach for the next time I have to leave!

I took care of a neighbor's rabbit for a few days and found out that rabbits GROWL --- That little bunny stood under the table and banged its foot and growled the entire time I was putting down food and water for him. To avoid his biting my feet (I was wearing sandals), I had to walk through the room with a broom beside my foot between me and him! When my friend got home, I laughingly told her that she has an attack rabbit.
