About a week or so ago, we noticed my orange tabby was squatting trying to pee on my living room carpet. He has NEVER done that before, and after noticing him doing it all over the house, and straining in his litter box for 10 minutes at a time, we knew something was seriously wrong. We took him to the emergency vet who put him on abx, and told us it was probably just an infection. A week of abx, and he seemed much better, back to his ole self, until we saw him straining in his litter box again with no results. This was Saturday, and our vet met us at the hospital right away.

He told us that the cat could possibly have IC....I about fell on the floor!! I told him about me, and he asked me what I took to help my bladder....he said that they give kitties elavil, and hydroxyzine.

We had to leave my baby over the weekend and the vet called me back yesterday and told us that he's got a very irregular shaped bladder, and it's so rock hard he's thinking it may be cancer....or IC....or simply the damage urine crystals has done to him. He's doing a cysto on him today, and had a foley in him all weekend.

My poor baby boy.......Tom and I both love this cat to death. I held him in my hands seconds after he was born, and he's just one of those cats with a cool personality that you can't help but love.

I'm scared for my kitty.......very scared. I feel so bad for him because I KNOW the pain he must have been in, and how scared he is being in a cage at an animal hospital.

Hopefully we'll know something more definitive today, after the scope....he may have to have surgery if they find something bad, or we may have to put him to sleep if his bladder is bad enough.

:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

:grouphug: I do understand how hard this is for you. I takes a lot of love to do what's best for a pet. I hope your kitty will be okay and you can have him back home soon.

Thanks Donna. We definately don't want him to suffer, but if he can still have a shot at a good life I sure don't want to put him to sleep. I'm on pins and needles waiting on the vet to call me back. :(
