I'm on elavil and I'm in so much discomfort I'm still not sleeping at night. I toss and turn trying to find an okay position.

Did you try Licrica. I hear it is a better option. It didn;t work for me but for eye problems I have so sadly I had to discontinue.

Will you be seeing your doctor soon? There are many options you could try to help you sleep better.
Warm healing thoughts,

How long have you been on it? At what dosage? I can't say that I sleep through the night since I started taking Elavil, I'm still up four or five times, but I go back to sleep easily and sleep well.

I've been on it for a little over 2 weeks now...only 25 mg. Maybe I need a higher dosage or should try something else. I don't have an appointment scheduled but I need to talk to him anyways about applying for disability. I used to take trazedone a while back for sleeping but it made me groggy for hours and hours the next day.

I've been on 50mg for two weeks and it's helped my pain a lot during the day. I really have never had trouble sleeping (though I'd sometimes be up every hour, I'd go back to sleep quickly), but I can REALLY sleep now! I do have to remember to take it early enough so I'm not groggy in the morning, but have to be careful not to take it if I'm going to be driving in the evening. It's really a balancing act, but it's helped my pain so much it's worth it. Some people have said that it took up to three months to help them, but I also know that not everyone can take it. Check with your doctor and good luck! I am really grateful for Elavil, I wish I hadn't wasted so much time before starting it!

oh..i doubt 25 mg would be enough to really make you sleep well at night, try to ask about 50 or 75 mg, that has worked wonders for me for years and years. i had no clue till i found this site that elavil has been prescribed for IC symptoms. i am not yet sure if i have IC or endo, but if i do have IC...it does NOT help with my pain, or maybe it would be worse, and i just don't know it, as i have been on it so very long. who knows? hope to know soon

I take 10mg as needed and its enough to knock me right out....It all depends on each persons unique makeup.
For me also: I have to take a certain brand for it to work well....the red pills by a certain manfacturer work fine. The white pills by another company do nothing for me.
