or pew you encounter in church or in some restaurants? I am embarressed to be schleping a pillow in with me so I have been carrying a big sweater which I discretely fold up and sit on but it isn't nearly adequate to soften the seat.
Do you carry a pillow in your purse or what do you do?

Actually, you bring up a good point...I have never considered. I usually just don't sit. I never thought of bringing a pillow or somthing with me to sit on, I guess if I cannot get comfortable I just don't sit.
Don't be embarrased girl! Just bring a pillow or fold up your jacket, don't be afraid of other people and being embarrased, just be comfortable>

what a great topic.. Never seen this posted in the 4 years I have been here.. I too sit on my coat, or try to sit with a foot under me. You know I have thought about getting me one of them blow up rings you get after having a baby :)

How you sit and what you sit on. It almost makes me not want to go out. I've already had to eliminate several of our old stand by restaurants.
Even the leather seats in our car are horrible for me - very hard and unforgiving. Ouch! I get all manner of urethral pains and spasms if I have to sit on the wrong seat.

In our car, I have a pillow I got from the ICN Shop --- it really helps, especially on rough roads.

One thing you might do is to carry an IC pillow in a tote bag --- they're very fashionable and you could just put the pillow, bag and all, on the seat and sit on it.

I too sit on a pillow in the car. its one of those memory foam wedges. I broke my tail bone about 6 years ago, and it healed in the wrong postition, the only fix is a surgical re-brake.. no way.. I also have sacralititis where fluid builds up around the scaral region and causes severe pain. I am going to check the icn shop I didn't know they sold pillows. thanks Donna.

I too get urethral and pelvic floor pain when I sit on an uncomfortable surface. But my stimulator is the big problem, when I sit it sticks out my butt and rubs against my tailbone...or hip whatever bone that is. The point is, I cannot get comfortable on any hard surface. I am going to find one of those blow up pillows--thanks for the tip!
I dont go many places besides doctor appointments and the occasional visit to my friends house, only places that i can be comfortable and as I said before if I HAVE to be someplace that i cannot get comfortable I either leave early or stand.

I sit on pillows in the car and while at work. When we go out to dinner, we try and sit at a booth, as they are cushioned, which helps most times, I always have my sweater so if I get uncomfortable, i just tuck it under me.

i know this is an old post but....i have really been struggling with this paticular issue lately! Maybe some of you can give me some suggestions or ideas or support. i work in an office...i sit down all day long. this has been going on since July...every day constantly, chronic. I was diagnosed with IC by a hydrodistension on the 20th. My doctor said that that should of helped....i don't feel any relief. meanwhile...i had to start coming back to work. obviously if i didn't, i wouldn't have any money. i can't handle it anymore! ...i can't live like this. it has really changed me and my life. i never feel like cooking dinner for my husband cuz when i get home from work i just want to lay around. my house stays a mess and i want to be me again!! the point to this.....i really feel like if i figured out something else to do that does not require me to be on my feet or to sit all say then i would feel alot better. that plus i need to watch my diet! i need to find something that i could possibly do from home! and i just don't know what! its so hard to be in pain everyday and not even myself anymore!! i'm sure you all can sympathize!! help!! i talk to my husband and my mom about it but, obviously this is all new to him to so...he doesn't really know what to say...does anyone have any suggestions for me?
thanks!

Order one of these special ic/pelvic floor pillows!! Mine didn't come yet (grrrrr.....) but it looks great. Two boxy pillows tied together with little strings so your butt cheeks are "pillowed" and your tender middle area is suspended -without touching anything. The aggravation of a regular pillow - no matter how soft - is there is still something touching my "between the legs" area - just what I don't want!
I wish my pillow would get here - its been almost a month!!!!
