Has anyone experienced a symptom of white discharge??? The doctor didn't seem concerned when I brought it up in my last visit. I don't have any type of infection or any ulcers. Maybe it is from something I have been eating though I have been on the I.C. diet for some time now. I know it's not due to my period or anything like that.

Hi Jen! I used to have that white discharge, too. I had it for almost a year. When I would mention it to my gyn he acted about like your doc did, since I didn't have a yeast infection or anything. I still don't know what caused it, but I don't have it anymore. I don't know if it had anything to do with the IC or not. I was just so glad when it went away!!!!

White flaky discharge may be pieces of the lining of your bladder. It is not an uncommon symptom and many experience it at some point or another. It isn't anything to worry about if that is what it is.

I have had constant discharge for as long as I can remember (enough where I need to wear a panty liner every day and change it at least once a day). Mine, however is not from the bladder; it is vaginal. I know this b/c when I have my period and am wearing a tampon, I don't get it (well, I get it; I just don't see it). I spent years trying to find something to make it go away, but my GYN (who partners with Dr Whitmore, IC specialist) said it is just something I most likely need to live with. :(

Hopefully yours is different and will go away.

Dana

I've been wearing liners as well it's just an annoyance and so disappointing. I wish I didn't have to wear them all the time. Also, are you able to wear tampons with IC? I would think that would aggreviate my IC...

I don't have a problem wearing tampons unless my vulvodynia is acting up.

Some people can tollerate a tampon some can't.....I suspect it depends on how bad the urethra and Pelvic floor dysfunciton is .....with me I knew I couldn't tollerate a tampon when my IC was bad because my pelvic muscles were in a pretty bad constant spasm....that is not something that is easy to tell that your muscles are in that constant spasm. :grouphug:

Is there anyway to prevent discharging???

I don't know if it can be prevented. I have it too!! It's so mysterious. That's a good theory that it's the lining. I thought it was possibly caused by the Elmiron.
I wish doctors knew more and we could all have relief from this awful IC! Hope you all have a good day! Thanks for sharing your stories! This website help me deal with thing so much! :)

I have also had white discharge for as long as I can remember, glad I am not the only one. I never told my doctor because I didn't know if it was normal or not. At least I know I am not the only one.

I have had a white discharge before. I took some pyridium to determine the discharge source. If it was still white I figured it was vaginal - orange would be urinary. It was white at the time. You might try that.
Right after I had done that I was at the uro office. I told him about the discharge and before I told him about the pyridium - he suggested the same thing.
