I don't know if I am in the right place but the pain doctor is doing a nerve block (superior hypogastric nerve block....I think he called it) on March 8. Thankfully, I will be given the medication of the Gods- Versed...(I love it) Anyway...He said if it helps, it tells him that the pain is centered there (the deep pelvic pain) and he can do further fun stuff....Burn the nerves (Has anyone had that done?) or put in a nerve stimulator.
I am very nervous, sick, sweating, (Oh...and my husband won't take the day off to take me...I had to find a friend who could...jerk) about this stupid nerve block...I know Ishouldn't be but I am.
This is me...sounding off... cussing Have a good week y'all.

I had a nerve block and it did zilch for me. I do have the Interstim, though, and it has helped with bladder spasms (I took valium for that it and it wore off after awhile, so this picks up where valium left off), and I don't have urgency pain any longer or frequency. My pain doctor was the one who referred me to Interstim, but I had 3 uro's opinions before I had it done. Good luck on your nerve block!!
Hugs and love,
Jess

i have had two done the first one helped me for seven days it was no big deal at all and didn't hurt it was like having a about five shots in my hip closer to my spine but still no big deal two of them was numbing shots.
the second one was way diff i want say it was as easy more painful even tho they gave me some thing to relax. my legs just down to my knees was numb for a about four hours but the good news it helped me for 14 days but that is the thing only 14 days but it was great to feel like my old self i went done anything i wanted ate anything i wanted it was like i had never had ic i even tested it out the first day with a tomato sandwich and the next day when i felt better we ate taco's with hot sauce wasn't i testing the waters. wink but it came to an end eek i want say i would never do it again but i WILL never use that pain clinic again that done it. that sorry sucker had very bad bed side manners.
Good luck hon i'm praying for you let us know how you are.
I hope your friend that is taking you will stay with you until your husband gets home.
i understand if money is tight boy do i understand that but he should be with you. if i was near you i would go with you and help you.

Nerve blocks are so easy. You are put out but it is not like anesthsia (sp). You wake easy from it. No pain afterwards. Hope it works for you.

I will tell you what, it is a peice of cake, I actually looked forward to my four blocks, (not the cost though!)
It was so easily done. It took 15 minutes from IV, Versaid, Spinal block, to hearing the nurses saying, "Jessica lets have you go wait for 15 more minutes in recovery". "Then you could go home!"
I feel 80 percent better when I really watch my diet, before the blocks I was at the end of my rope and had to be hospitalized for depression and thoughts of suicide the IC really took a toll on me in 2003. My Anesthesiologist/Pain Doctor Swicegood rocked my world and now I feel so much better, I may have to go in for touch up's which is okay but I do know they are working for me and I am going into the 4th month since my last block.
I hope they help you as much as they did me, you will be so happy and I will be be happy for you also, I will pray this works for you and your pain can be alleviated by these blocks!
Please take care!
Much love and concern,
Jessica Day

Maybe it's cause of where of the "shudder" needle is going...blah.. blah that they are putting me pretty much "under"...also, the fact that I broke into a sweat and maybe even wet my pants discussing it with the doc...may have given him the thought to drop me down. lmao I guess the needle goes into my pelvis, through the nerve plexus...etc... scream I just went white while he was telling me this....
Anyway....Happy Dr. Suess Day hat ( Been waiting to use the little Cat in the Hat icon)
This is all sucks. I was up all night last night and night before and (believe before that, because of pain) At least I now have stretches and some Tai chi patterns to focus my mind.
Can you all in the pacific time zone who are awake at 3:00 AM think about me? I'll be awake, just ****** ....I have that interview tomorrow and I'm stressed a little about that too. I NEED SLEEP.
Love:
Tracey
