I had the interstim implant done. And it worked well for the urine part. I also have some spine damage well now I find out if you have injections in the spine you can not have novicane used. They have not explained it to me in full as yet.
Something about the current changing the drug to a crystal form? This I found out after the injection was done. I do not know what to expect now. Wish I had found this group before all this was done. Yes foot and toe curls. Bowel movements when you have to go it is like right now. Left leg pulls up. Sometimes
jolt where the unit is. I wonder if it all was worth it. Also male sexual function has changed not for the better. The spine pain has gotten worse. I will see the Dr in three months. I will get over this and this is just a note to add to others that have had things go wrong. Thanks for letting me vent.

I am sorry to hear that you are having a rough go, but this is a GREAT place for support from others who may be having the same "side effects" etc. There are lots of people here who have had the Interstim, and who share their experiences etc.

I would also like to say welcome to the ICN - glad you found us!

My suggestion to you is not to wait 3 months to see the doctor. This is NOT ACCECPTABLE! if you are having this many problems, they may be worse in 3 months.
I personally called medtronics, and I have called my ic specialist, neither believes that the interstim current can not crystlize novicane.
have you turned down the stim, and got relief from the foot and toe curls?
A jolt where the implant is, should not happen.. Since you are having these issues, it would be best to turn off the stim, make an appointment to have it removed. Problems like these are not self correcting.

Sorry you had a bad experience. I also ,live in WV and to my knowledge there is 1 DR who does the stim implant. I have had super success and had this device explainedto me frontwards and backwardsfrommy DR. maybe if had found us sooner you would have went into this alot more knowledgible. So sorry for you bad experience. May I ask where you had the implant done? Sounds like you may want to consult someone else and conisder other options. Welcome to the ICN and once again hugs to you for your bad experience with the stim.

Tigger is right. Dont wait 3 months, you need to get in right now. I have had my many, many share of problems with the InterStims I have had. I got my first one in 2001 and the sedond in 2005. Some of the problems you are experienc. are not normal and need to be looked in to.

And :welcome: you have found a wonderful site to visit.

Please call your doctor and arrange for an earlier appointment. Three months is much to long to wait when you're having serious problems.

I would seek a second opinion, do not wait 3 months!!!!!!!!!
good luck!, maybe you have the wrong electrode on... and if you are having too much problems, more than the benefits, ask to remove it!

Went in to Dr saw the nurse. She was very nice switched ground and lowered setting. The novicane was because it would make the nerve sensation dead or lowered. Mine was done in Stebenville Ohio. Thanks to all gave me the courage to call in. And only had to see the nurse. I have white coat syndrome fear of Dr's. And also got stitches out. Working much better now and I feel much better.

I urge you to get in to the doctors asap. Do not settle for the nurse.. Something is wrong, your body is telling you.
please let us know what happens.
