My doctor told me it works, but it doesn't have the promising effects that they hoped it would.

I had Botox injections done the beginning of October and they did nothing for my pain. Also, as I had some retention before the injections, the Botox caused severe retention. Therefore, I would recommend that if one is considering having Botox injections and already has retention, do not have the shots. I would explore having a neuromodulation device implanted instead and that is what is left for me to have done. It has taken 3 months for the botox to wear off. I plan to have a device implanted in the near future and could have had that done 3 months ago.
My main problem right now is that I have to go all the time at night and I am not getting any sleep because of it. My doctor put me on Ambien but I don't want to be dependent on that. I had a hydro in August and then another one in December. They usually help but recently haven't done much for me so I figured this might be my last resort because I DO NOT want to try Interstim and the instillations do nothing for me.
So I wanted to do the Botox because in theory, it sounds like it would work great. But I'm scared! My other doctor, not the one who is going to do it, said that sometimes they over do it and then you can't pee at all and have to catheterize yourself! That doesn't sound much better. SO I wanted to get on here and see if anyone had any success with it.

I had Botox injections last June. I did have some retention for about six weeks and had to catherize myself quite often, but after that I got relief from the spasms and also the frequency. I only had to urinate about six times a day and slept through the night for several months. I did not have any severe side effects and am planning to have the procedue done again next month.
Good luck and God Bless,
Judi

Botox doesn't work for everyone. It didn't work for me. I had to pay $600 for the Botox because it is not FDA approved and I got no relief. In my opinion you should only use Botox if you have the money and are all out of other options.

I had botox done to and it did great for me. I wasn going 60 times a day and know I am going 5 to 7 times a day. I have botox 6 to 8 months. My insurance is paying for my botox. I wen through a 3 year trail study and I was his NO. 1 Patient. Dr. Gousse is a great doctor to do the botox. Deborah Bush
