I am not sure where exactly this post should go, so I put it in an area of high traffic. What exactly is the IC bathroom card, and where can I get one. I have been so many places that I know have bathrooms, but say that no one can use them. I would feel more comfortable if I knew I had a card. Also, do most places respect it and allow you to use their restroom? Thanks, J

http://www.icnshop.com/ there are IC friendly things such as alternatives, soaps, foods, books, and many other things. It is a good place to take a look at.

It is a simple little card that just says what IC is a bit gives a link to the ICN...and that it can be painful to hold it. It is one of the most common things that she gives as a free gift so if you order something else you may get a free one.

So far when I have used my card yes people allowed me to ahead of them in line or whatever. I only use it when I need to but I keep one in my phone so that I always have it with me.

I've used the card in several situations where the storekeepers have said their restroom was off-limits & they were very gracious about it.

I also used the card at the airport when they had randomized seating & got stuck in the last group to board on a very full flight. I was already flaring & figured that being stuck in the middle or window seat was just too much to handle. The card got me pre-boarded & a seat right next to the restroom. I did also state that "I have a disability and under the Americans with Disabilities Act, I would like to request the travel accomodation of seating near a restroom." All of a sudden airline staff who were indifferent, snapped to & became instantly helpful. (I wonder if they thought I was some sort of weird Medical Secret Shopper).

I've only used the card 3 times, but have been very glad for it each time.

And I did get mine from the ICN shop (along with some other very helpful things!)

I have only used my card a few times and have only been refused bathroom access one time after showing the card. It was a fabric shop and I had a cart with several pieces of cut fabric waiting to check out. I told the lady I was sorry, but I had to leave to find a restroom and left the cart.

Many months later I finally returned to that store and they actually have the restroom marked. I'm very fond of thinking I just might have had something to do with improved restroom access.
