Hi, I havent posted much all summer, because I was really feeling pretty well.(I did not want to rub it in to others that are suffering.) I even thought (how naive!), IC is gone, never to return. Of course I was so wrong. I have been in a terrible flare for a few weeks now, ever since it got colder around here. But that might be a coincidence. However, I hate drinking cold water, when its cold, so I have been drinking Chai Tea, green tea and some herbals. Now I am wondering, does anyone know if Chai Tea or Green tean cause flares, because I'm sure not getting any better, even with the prosed and other meds I am on.
Take care, everyone.

Hi, I drink green tea and chamomilla. I love the green tea but someday it does make me flare up. Chamomilla doesn't make me flare. It's very soothing. I had a bad flare last night... probably because I had macaroni with gravy!!! Very bad!! Oooocchhh. Thank god for pain meds, haha But I hoped I helped. Deffinitly try Chamomilla tea and I hope you feel better

I think that Trader Joe's brand chai tea actually *helps* my flares. I found this out accidentally before I even knew I had IC. All I knew then was that my bladder was hurting, but that the doctor said I didn't have an infection. When I drank the tea, I noticed that I felt better. After finding out that I had IC, I was surprised that the tea helped me since it's acidic. I wondered what was in it that could be helping. After a little experimenting, I decided it might be the cloves in the tea. If I drink "tea" made from hot water with a couple of cloves in it, I also feel somewhat better. Chai teas of other brands have not made me feel better. When I read their ingredients lists, I noticed that all chai teas are not the same!

Chamomile tea is also helpful to me when I am in a flare. In fact, it's the first thing I reach for. I just keep drinking really strong cups of it (approx 4 tea bags in a big mug) until I feel better. It usually takes 3-4 cups and a few hours.

I do hope you are able to find teas that don't cause you to flare ...

Thank you for your answers. I think I might experiment some with cloves. I have the feeling Chai tea is not good for me, but Chamomille is o.k., and so is green tea.
