Hi, my doctor wants to do a CMG (cystometrogram) in his office. And when I talked to the nurse she said it included catheters and filling your bladder to capacity. I don't think I can handle that. I had a catheter almost a week and a half ago b/c of urinary retention and I am still taking Lortab all day long b/c I am in sooooo much pain. Should I just refuse the CMG or go through with it. Please someone tell me your opinion on what to do.

I had it done several years ago. It is just another type of test to see what condition your bladder is in and how it empties. I was already hurting. The catheter didn't hurt and normally they kill me.
Just be sure to ask alot of questions.

I had the CMG in the office - because they had the clinic type area to do that sort of thing. It was weird from what I remember. But it gave the doc lots of good information about my bladder. They used the catheter to put fluid into my bladder and asked when I could feel myself getting 'full'. By weird, I mean that science has opened up so many ways to detect disease and malfunctions of the body. I was amazed at the way things were hooked up and how the information was transmitted. The tech was very nice and considerate.

I would describe it as weird as well. I remember thinking what is all this going to show. I was anxious about it, but the procedure did not hurt.
