A little trouble with the instills the last few days...

Three days ago, after my instill, I had a very hard time voiding it out when I was ready, about 30 minutes later. I sat and sat and couldn't void at all. So, I got up and waiting another 10 minutes, and tried again. Still couldn't go. Finally, I was able to strain it out. I know that is bad to do, but it was the only way it was coming out at the time.

Ever since then, I'm having some difficulty going. That whole day, I had to sit at least five minutes to go. The next day it was better until I did the instill again, and then I had the same problem, but not quite as severe. I'm going now, but it takes so long for me to start.

Could it be caused by the lidocaine jelly. I've used it once before without this problem, but now I'm using it each time. (I mean, I've always used it on the exterior, but now I'm using it as the lubricant for the catheter as well b/c it always hurts so much inside of my bladder to cath).

I'm uncomfortable with the urethra and urgency, but not in more pain than usual in the pelvic area. I'm not retaining (only 50cc after voiding 50cc when I did my cath today). Could it be that my urethra is a little tramatized by my cathing daily now? I don't want to call and bother my doc yet beause I'm still able to go. It just has been taking forever to get there. Any ideas?

Well, it progressed to can't go at all. This sucks! I've never not been able to go. I had to straight cath. I called my uro and he didn't know what to tell me except, continue to straight cath until my urelle comes in.

How am I going to get through this. Urelle comes in on the 31st. So, I'm supposed to go to work this weekend cathing. I have to go like every half hour to every hour. It hurts too much to cath so often, but I have a bladder capacity of 200cc. I hope I get over this and I'm just overreacting.

I'm going to jump in the tub now to try to lossen up those stupid muscles. Then I'll use my TENS, and heating pad. I already took a Darvocet and Pyridium. Any other suggestions for me, please?

remember that one song from TLC or something "don't go chasing waterfalls". I think of that song when I can't pee for awhile. I always can't pee after instillations.

Is it possible for you to measure your urine after you cath? If so, measure the time between caths and measure your urine output. Once you reach 200cc, you know how far apart to space your caths. I take Pyridium Plus and that seems to help me with the urethral pain.
