Advice Re Cya Dose Please

Hi, I Am Wondering What Doses Of The Cya You Gals Started On If You Don't Mind Sharing The Info. I Heard From My Uro This A.m. As I Sent Him A Fax On Monday Telling Him How I Felt About
Starting The Drug But That I Am In Excruciating Pain. As He Said, I Have Nothing To Lose And This Has Been Going On Too Long Without Any Relief And I Am More Than At The End Of My Rope. I Am A Little Bothered By The Fact That My Gp Does Not Want Me To Take The Drug. He Knows What A Difficult Time I Had When I Had The C.difficile And Was Hospitalized For Ten Days Due To A Different Drug. I Appreciate His Concern But At The Same Time He Is Not The One Who Has To Live With Ic And Its Miserable Symptoms.

I was taking 300 mg per day - 100 mg 3 times a day. This was a somewhat high dose. I believe ICLori was on 200 mg. I don't recall what Kristen was doing.

Good luck and keep us posted. I'm not surprised your GP is concerned but the specialist is likely to be more comfortable if he has prescribed it in the past. That was certainly the case for me.

I was on 200mg, then recently (in the last month I think?) switched to 300mg per day, in three doses.

Generally it's prescribed as a certain amount of medicine per kilogram of body weight.

If your doctor starts you out at a low dose, it's not really a problem, because they can always raise it higher if it doesn't work at first, unless you have an adverse reaction to CyA.
