French fries are usually cooked in vegetable oil anyways right? I'm thinking about trying some without seasoning...I'm open to suggestions. I'm kinda struggling with the I.C. diet lol ahhhhhh!
I am also lacking snack ideas. Any takers?

Thanks.

McDonalds & Burger King french fries have chemical preservatives in them, so I usually avoid them. In general though, french fries without seasoning are fine. (I add salt at the table)

Snack ideas:
1. Lays Classic Potato Chips
2. Pringles Original
3. Kettle Bakes Lightly Salted
4. Rold Gold Pretzels
5. Pepperidge Farm Chessmen cookies
6. Nilla wafers
7. Brown Rice cakes (plain, no seasonings) w/ Kraft original block cream cheese (don't get the tubs of cream cheese, they have acidic preservatives so people can re-dip the knife. Ouch)
8. Safeway Organic Microwave Popcorn or Bearitos Organic Microwave Popcorn. (no preservatives)
9. Veggies with a little Marie's Lite Creamy Ranch to use as dip (I take Prelief with this. Prelief is a calcium supplement that cuts the acid in foods.)
10. Original Triscuits or Wheat Thins with Sargento sliced mozzarella cheese
11. String Cheese
12. Kozy Shak rice pudding (individual cups)
13. Homemade "Trail Mix": almonds, white chocolate chips, raisins, Rold Gold pretzels
14. Individual cups of Knudsen Lowfat cottage cheese, with raw veggies or mixed with cinnamon & raisins
15. Fresh pear whole or sliced with a sprinkle of cinnamon if you can tolerate it.
16. Dates
17. Trader Joe's plain meringues (no preservatives, just egg whites & lots of sugar)
18. Pear Pear or Pear Blueberry bars available for sale in the ICN store
19. Candies or Cookies available for sale in the ICN store
20. Panda brand black licorice
21. Werthers original hard caramel candies
22. White Chocolate Kit Kats

With all these ideas, just be careful to keep the snack size small if you're watching your weight. A lot of these things are higher in calories than what I ate for snacks pre-IC (fruits, yogurt, etc) & I've really struggled with weight the last few years!

Other than that, enjoy:)

A snack I've got very attached to is pikelets. I make a batch and freeze them. I make them using self raising flour, egg, sugar and milk....no baking soda or cream of tartar which I can't tolerate. Very scrummy!

:) Okay, here we go! They're dead easy to make.

To make about 15 good sized pikelets :

1 cup self raising flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1 egg
3/4 cup milk (I use low fat)

Combine flour and sugar and form a well in the middle.
Whisk egg and milk together and pour into well. Stir or whisk together until lumps disappear.

Grease a non stick frypan and cook in batches of about 3 at a time over a low heat.

It takes a bit of practise to get the heat just right but once you've got that mastered it's a piece of cake. They freeze really well too. I like them with just butter/margerine on them (which is just as well as I can't tolerate jams), but my hubby loves strawberry or blackberry jam on them. Then of course there's the dollop of cream on top........hmmmm!

Enjoy!

I can eat McDonald's, Wendys and Arbys french fries. I can snack on the black licorice twizzlers. Also right now there are vanilla Tootsie Rolls out and they are good. Fritos are a good snack. I also make homamade carmel corn, blonde brownies and air popped popcorn for snacks. Than there is also Breyers French Vanilla ice cream that is great.
