View Full Version : Could it be IC if all Meds, not foods, make symptoms worse?

I get constant urethral burning especially after urination. However, it doesn't seem to be related to any foods, but any Meds, especially antibiotics or antiinflammatories make the burning worse. Can this be a sign of IC?

It could be, but you really need to see a urologist to be certain.

Not everyone with IC is equally sensetive to diet. I have talked to several ICers here who gave the diet a serious try, and found that they were just not sensetive to most foods. That's how I am. I can eat tomatoes, pizza, chocolate, and most "no-no" foods without it affecting my IC. I tried the diet for several months, and it just didn't work for me like it did for others. Only a few items, such as heavily caffeinated beverages, have any effect on me. And yes, I know for sure I have IC; I read the surgery report from my cysto+hydro myself :)

So, as the saying around here goes, "we are all different". You will find both extremes of the spectrum here. Some ICers are exceptionally sensetive to diet and can suffer painful flares from even a very tiny amount of a food that they cannot tolerate. Other ICers are hardly sensetive to diet at all. I guess that's how it is.

Hmm, makes me think, someone should really do a scientific study on this. Variations in sensetivity to diet in persons affected with interstitial cystitis. It would be very interesting.

P.S. There are also other members here whose bladders are bothered by most medications. Maybe one of them will see your post and reply. I haven't had that many meds bother my bladder, so I don't know much about that particular problem.
