Hi everybody, just wanted to give you guys an update, like I promised a week ago.

As I mentioned last week, all other possibilities were ruled out, so after an in-office cystoscopy (showing minor patches of irritation) my Uro told me it is IC, as he had suspected.

I mentioned that my uterus was enlarged and he suspected utetine fibroids, which would be very unusual at my age (22). I got my pelvic ultrasound done on Monday, and they have found it to look completely normal.

I'm still kind of curious as to why my uterus was bulging into the wall of my bladder (maybe it was because I was on my period?!?!), but if they're satisfied, I suppose I should be too!

He wants me to try the diet for a while, and to stay faithful to it. No more cheating I suppose...

The only reason I should have to go back in, in the future, will be for pain treatment if I need it.

So...... after 2 1/2 months of nagging uncertainty, tests, medications, anxiety, cpnstant trips to the doctors (about 10 times) and (gulp!) doctors bills, I'm done with the unknown! Now, wish me luck trying to follow the diet.... that's another story.

Just the knowing is a stress reliever. Sticking to the diet is HARD. It does get easier and becomes a way of life. Look back through the threads and you'll find all kinds of things that are easy on our bladders to eat -- that's what I did.

I think my absolute worst time with IC was before diagnosis. Now that you know you can begin treatment and diet so you will feel better.

At first sticking to the diet is hard. I had to give up chocolate, soda, and all tomato products. I have found that I can eat the Gerber Graduates ravioli and spaghetti because it is made with nothing artificial and does not contain preservatives. Eating baby/toddler food may seem like it is embarrassing but when you have cravings anything will due. I also had to give up all juice except for pear juice. Again, pear juice for babies tastes good. You will figure out that living without your favorite food is worth it if you can avoid a flare.
