OK guys Im so confused.
I recently downloaded and printed an article by John B Forrest, MD clinical associate professor of urology university of oklahoma, health science center- tulsa. (jeesh thats a lot)
It is titled "diagnosis and mangement of IC/PBS" well on page 5 it says
"Cystoscopy With Bladder Hydrodistention Although the presence of submucosal hemorrhages or glomerulations on cystoscopy is part of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases research parameters for diagnosis of IC/PBS, it is not predictive of pathology and does not correlate with symptoms; the biopsy is not diagnostic of IC/PBS and the presence of glomerulations is not specific for IC/PBS. The primary indication for cystoscopy in the assessment of pelvic pain is to rule out malignancy in patients with hematuria and/or abnormal urinary cytology, and cystoscopy is no longer widely used as a standard diagnostic procedure in suspected IC/PBS."
Now i know im not crazy, but that tells me that Cystoscopy With Bladder Hydrodistention is not a good way to diagnose IC. How could it be? i was diagnosed after my uro did that to me and i told her my symptoms, etc. I have hunners ulcers. My uro said shes disapointed to tell me i have a bad case.
So *** is this guy talkin about im so confused can anyone shed some light?
Should i call the author and get the 411? :loco:
