Help with Elavil

I just got diagnosed with IC and am trying to figure out medications. I seemed to have a bad reaction to Elavil, really shaky and racing heart beat. Anyone else have that side effect? Do you need to be on Elavil? I'm also taking Elmiron and it seems to be helping. I've taken Xanax for a couple days now and that seems to have really worked. Anyone else tried xanax? Just looking for some advice. Thanks!

Elavil can be a real help in controlling pain. What dosage are you taking? It comes as low as 5 mg. That said, I couldn't take it because it caused my blood pressure to soar.

Thanks for your reply! I was taking 40mg and now I'm taking 20mg. My blood pressure soared after taking it and I seem to be experiencing a lot of the other side effects as well. What would be another alternative? I decided to go off of it because of these bad effects. Thanks again!
