The urology center I went to gave me no diet and very little info. I was told to go and do a goggle search. Boy did I had my eyes opened to the worse prognosis of IC. This seems like a good site and not as scary as the first one I read. Guess I’m open to what I should do. D:rolleyes: o I go off all the problematic foods cold turkey or a little at a time.
Any insight is welcome..

Janieraye :welcome: to the ICN!!
You have definitely found the right site!! This place is a wealth of knowledge & support!!
I went off all foods & drinks that weren't IC friendly right from the start. I took the list from this site & stopped them immediately. It's kinda tough at first, but definitely worth it!!
Good luck!!

:welcome: to the board!! If you click on the link to the patient handbook at the top of the page it will lead you to tons of useful information, including the diet, and options to relieve pain, etc. You can go to the diet section on this message board to get some other diet tips from the members here.
Keep reading, and ask tons of questions. We all start out overwhelmed, but, a lot of people DO get better in time, with the proper diet, and sometimes the right combo of medications.
Take care,
Sandy

:welcome: to the IC Network. Sandi is right. In my opinion it's best to start by eliminating all of the possible problem foods. Then when you begin to feel better, you can think about trying some of your favorites to see if you can tolerate them.

When I was in your shoes I was told to follow column one of the IC diet at first for at least the first 6 weeks and I did and noticed huge improvements after a month or so. It seems like forever when your there but it really does go by fast. The positive thing for me with the IC diet was I really learned how to start eating healthy, not just for the IC but for overall health, more fibres etc for bowels. In turn I lost weight... All the best of luck.
