Hi Everyone

My urologist just called and I begin a drug trial on Oct 30th. He would have followed this new drug protocol anyway, but I wanted to be part of the trial, hoping the info would help others. The drug is only available in Canada right now but seems to have helped alot of IC'rs so far. They say you can feel a difference by week 2. I am not looking forward to being cathaterized once a week so they can put the Uracyst directly in my bladder but if that's what it takes to get better I am all for it. So once a week for 6 weeks and then once a month for 6 months. I HOPE IT WORKS!!!! I guess if I am lucky in anything ,it is that they diagnosed me only 6 months after getting symptoms. Some of you have gone years without doctors really listening to you.
I will keep you posted on the progress, maybe this drug will be a godsend to all of us. (saying a prayer)
For now ,I stay on my boring diet, keep online with you, my support team, and hope for the best.

Hi Beachnut,

I get Uracyst (=sold as uropol in Gremany) for more than a year now, and together with elmiron it really helped me. I know from the german forum there a lot woman who get good results from this treatment..:woohoo:

just to let you know that a lot of us needed more than two weks to see a result (I needed severeal month, although I was diagnosed only 6 month after onset of symptoms and having mild IC)...So don't get dissapointed if you have to be patient....

I absolutley don't understand why this instillation , which ususually has no sid effect and is painless is not available in the US, this really drives me mad...

anyway: wishing you luck for your treatment....

I tried Uracyst about a year ago; it isn't painful to hold or pee out the meds but it didn't help me at all; it seemed to cause bladder achs but no other adverse side effects, so it's safe.
Anywho, goodluck with it and I hope it works for you
