Hi,
Does anyone ever feel like they are sitting on a rubber ball? It puts pressure in my vaginal area and because of where it is located it seems to also cause unwanted feelings of arousal. Am I totally messed up or what. This is all so new to me and I get very scared.

Alyssa; We all get different symtoms with IC. I do get a feeling like there is something there a lot of the time. Even the arousel part. I think it all comes from the inflammation caused by the IC, I'm interested in what othrs have to say on our topic???:help:

There are lots of ICers who have the "arousal" feeling, and I can't say that it's very pleasant, lmao!! I had horrible clitoral pain, and sometimes a tingling/numbness kind of feeling when I was first diagnosed. It was awful, the vulvar pain and sensations sometimes were worse than my bladder! :) But all the nerves are in such close proximity there's definitely spill-over.

For me, I discovered cold packs or a frozen water bottle in a sock placed on the vulvar area to be a huge relief! And I have to say that as I got my bladder under control, those sensations and painful feelings were the one of the things to go away first. Sometimes it would be so bad, I would have to sit up on my feet on the chair, like a bird on it's perch! It was crazy!!!!

Alyssa-
Any other person would say there is NO such thing as UNWANTED arousal, but I know what you mean!!! Very pressure and painful. This happens to me during a flare or infection when I am going to the bathroom #1 and the stream is weak and when it nears the end it feels unwantedly aroused and then BURNS!!!! Don't know if it's a classified symptom, but I've experienced it! So you're newly diagnosed? I'm sorry to hear that, but atleast you can know put a name on the disease and start to recieve treatment. Talking and checking these boards is an AWESOME form of support and it's taken me over a year to sign up and I'm glad I did. We're all in this together and I wish you luck! Feel free to PM me any time.

Hi,
Thank you for replying so quickly. I thought I was going crazy and didn't understand why I would get these sensations so often...especially when sitting down. Driving in the car is the worst. At least now I don't feel so alone.

Alyssa,

Not sure of your age or if you've ever given birth, however just wanted to throw another possibility of the cause of the "sitting on a rubber ball" feeling; this can be caused by prolapse (uterine, bladder, or rectal).

just another thought

take care
