Not diognased yet! Plssss help!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello people.. I have been suffering from frequent urination/ sometimes itchy vagina for almost 5 months now. Symptoms started after coming off the pill and now i am on accutane for acne. I'm scared for a permanent damage. I have tried lots of antibiotics ,nothing works! Last week i had another urine test,it shows white blood cells and other blood cells but doesn't show bacteria of infection alert.Still, seeing the blood cells, the urologyst prescripted me an antibiotics and an antiseptic.. I'm tired of this not going..The 2nd day of taking antibiotics i had my periods started. And the 2nd day of my periods urination problem got lost. (I thought antibiotic was kicking in) My period lasted for 3 days. Yesterday was the last day and frequent urination just came back..I dont have any burning during urination .And i feel like i can sit on toilet forever..I also noticed some yeast in my vagina.I think antibiotics caused this. Yeast can make frequent urination? Oh i am helpless between of accutane ,medicines and now urination problem.Pls give me an idea!

Hi,
I am not sure about the yeast, i always got yeast infections since i was a young girl, but i always had to pee all the time anyway so when the infec would come it didn't make it any worse or any better. However thats is just me.
I suggest speaking to your Uro of the possibility of IC and if you get no where, go to an IC friendly doctor, i can help get you info if you choose.
Please keep me posted on whats going on,
Tracey :)

i am sitting in front of the computer and freaking out. Do blood cells (epithel and white blood cells) mean urinary infection without meaningful bacteria growth? Any thought is appreciated. ( i also have pcos and my acne is being treated with accutane)

Is there a way to tell the diffirences between an urinary tract infection and ICN ?

Have you been cultured to verify that you have a yeast infection? Yeast infection can cause itching and discomfort. And yes, taking antibiotics can bring on a yeast infection.
Donna
P.S. ICN means IC Network --- IC stands for interstitial cystitis.

Thanks to both of you for helping. I'ms till so much confused. I'm not even diognised, doctor put me on antibiotics seeing the white cells and other blood cells in my test..Does that happen in IC too? Also if there is ny yeast, might it cause frequent urinating?

Hi, Flo, welcome. I have heard that yeast can cause frequent urination, but I don't really know for certain.
I think it is best for you to go back to the doctor, ask what tests should be done next. If the UTI is cleared up yet you are still having symptoms, it is time for other tests to be done, to determine what is wrong. None of us are qualified to diagnose you, and even if we were doctors, we still couldn't diagnose you over the internet. Only a doctor can help you. But if the doctor does tests on you and says you have IC, then we can help you with self-help tips, and sharing our experiences with you.
Blessings, and best of luck to you,
Lori

Yeah, seems like i will have more doctor visits. My life is in a mess at the moment :( I'm tired of dealing with weird illnesses and weird side effects of every medicine i take. I had pcos already,as a mystery of many problems. Now this urination problem, doctor described as an infection (which i don't believe) I'm tired of taking antibiotics for this and i just stopped another series of antibiotic and just using an antiseptic called nutrifurantion.
I will see if anything works. It only got lost on the 2nd day of my periods and came back with revenge. Funny thing is that u know, many ppl even scare of UTI and gets afraid of seeing bacteria in tests. I was alwmost sad that there wasnt enough bacteria and just increased blood cells, leukocyte..Doctor said infection just by seeing them. I am happy if this is just an infection..Or otherwise i better get a proper diognasis before i make damage on my internal organs by acne drug Accutane. Thanks to all of you for sharing ur advices and for ur help.
Regards and Lots of love

I noticed that i feel like peeing more when i sit down rather than walking. I wonder if it is something specific for IC or ITU anyway.I will see another doctor, maybe a gyne this time!

Hello,
I wonder if anyone knows accutane can cause chronic bladder infections, IC or IC like symptoms? I suffer from something unknown yet. I show symptoms of IC, my urine culture comes negative but in urine test it shows lots of leukosites and blood cells. I tried antibiotics but doesnt work : ( Tomorrow morning, visiting a gyne and later an uro again perhaps. Can "accutane" be the cause?

Hi Flo55
I do not know if Accutane can cause urination problems. Please call the md that prescribed you the Accutane and ask him/her if this is possible.
Yeast infections can make you feel like you have a UTI.
You said you were on your period. If you do a UTI test while on your period some of the blood cells can go into your urine. You should have a test while not menstruating?
Did your md send in your urine for a culture?
If you do not have satisfaction with the md you are seeing go get a second opinion. It is your right as a patient to have proper medical care.
I hope this helps, and that you feel better soon.

IVP is a test to check kidney & bladder function. My husband had an IVP and he was given IV sedation. The test itself is performed with a catheter and a dye is injected with the catheter. I'm not sure how far the catheter is inserted in to the ureters.

Flo - I sent you a private message, but thought others might benefit from this information. I took only two doses of Accutane three years ago and I started bleeding from my bladder. The medication gave me IC. It damaged my bladder forever. I would rather have acne (or try and find something else that will work) than take that medication. I even contacted the company to let them know what happened. What's frustrating is that there was another more benign med the dermotologist could have given me that worked, but she went for the most toxic medication possible. I have urethral burning, however I don't have much frequency and urgency. Just the sensation of having to go. I had instillations, but too many instills caused severe UTI's. I am currently taking Urelle, antihistamines, Elmiron.
The other thing is, stopping my birth control also caused a significant flare. Hormones, or the lack thereof, have been found to increase IC symptoms.
Currently I am dealing with pelvic floor dysfunction. It has been one thing after another.
I would recommend finding a uro that deals with IC to get some answers, and I rethink taking the Accutane.

hi Step,
Thanks for sharing ur situation..I'm quite worried at the moment ..
U know, today i went to give new tests,my new urine test didn't even show leukosites but just blood cells and protein! The doctor is looking for some rare bacterias and ordered a IVP and ultrason, which i dunno if it might show IC as well. I'm so scared of permanent damage. I'll have those tests and will see a gyne..If nothing else is found,i think it might be roaccutane and this thing is permanent i know I had real bad acne and almost forced to use it but of course nothing is worth losing my bladder..I'm taking nutrifurantoin 2 times at the moment. I'm so frustrated and dunno what to do at the moment. I had this prolonged UTI befor estartin accutane as well and that happened right after i stopped BCP. I also believe there is something hormone related there. Did u have frequency only? How about urine tests? I'm so helpless and dunno what to dooo I might just quit accutane but i hope not too late !

An urinary USG may show IC itself ?

The best way to see if you have IC is with a Cystoscopy with Hydrodistention. They put a tube through your urethra (while you are under general anesthetic, you are not awake, too painful) then blow up the bladder with gas or water to see clearly the inside walls of the bladder. If they see glomerulations (little red marks on the bladder wall) this is an indication of IC. A Potassium Senstitivity Test can also be done.

Hello,
First of all,i want to thank u all for helping me finding a right way into a diognasis and support. Now i am in more confusion ..Let me update u about my latest situation. I went to urologyst today and he checked my kidney and bladder with ultrason. He said he suspected one kidney cyst (not sure ,will be clear after IVP) but told me that is not the reason of urination problems. My bladder was full when he did the ultrason. Later he told me to go to toilet and pee and come back. When i came back,he said " but there is still some urine in your bladder" ,aha! Seems like i don't pee the whole. Is it something that prevents urination or does it sound similar with IC too? Gyne found yeast, and gave me antifungal tablets that i am taking at the moment. I also stopped taking Accutane for acne. Now i wonder more ..I think they will perform cysto after IVP but God knows when! If any idea, pls write to me..

The only thing I have to share is--I rarely ever void my entire bladder. IC symptom. When I'm in pain I retain more. Sorry you are going through this. Hopefully the IVP will clear up somethings for you. I have one done every few years along with a yearly DTPA for my kidney problems.

and IVP doesn't give clue whether it is IC or not?

If I'm remembering correctly an IVP just tells you how well your kidney/bladder is/are working. I should've looked it up real quick before answering. :) It sounds like by what your Dr said--he can see if you have any cysts too--I think ?? by obstuctions. IVP is an exray. They shoot some dye into your blood stream, have you lay in diff. positions all over the table and take exray after exray--and you have to fast before. I hate fasting. You go to the bathrm then they take a few more exrays. Pretty easy. Ask for extra blankets--I always get cold in those stupid hospital gowns. Hope this helps.

That was supposed to be "obstructions" not obstuctions!! My fingers arn't going as fast as my brain.
On diagnosing IC--a lot of Dr.s go by symptoms,(they may not do anymore tests for awhile--try you on some meds and IC diet before they do anything intrusive) Hydrodistension/Cystoscopy, or a potassium test. I don't think you can tell by cystoscopy alone.
