I was offically diagnosed with IC last summer. Bladder wash worked great for 9 months then symptoms returned. I had another bladder wash 4 weeks ago. The pain after the procedure was pure agony. This second procedure has given me minimal improvement in pain.

I have received so much information from so many different sources I don't know where to begin.

My urologist suggested Detrol for over active bladder. I am taking 4mgs per day. I have some good days and some really bad days.

I had a urogynology suggest PT for Pelvic Floor Disorder. This seemed like a dead end because the PT he sent me to treats women with bladder issues related to childbirth and I have never given birth.

I am open to suggestion!

I had these tests done in my gyno's office, and any Uro office can do them also. They are easy to do, just swab the urethra and send it in. If it is positive then antibiotic treatment comes next. It can mimic IC, especially urethral syndrome.
Did you have the Potassium test for IC? That also is done in the office and is very simple.
When I had a lot of urethral stinging and pain I blamed IC and the urethra but it turned out to be pelvic floor disorder referred pain. I do have IC, but I am now able to sort out the urethra pain symptoms from the IC.
Elavil helped me a whole lot with the urethra and bladder pain.

Sorry, I had an after thought; did they put you on any IC medications when you were diagnosed? Like elmiron, elavil and maybe Atarax? If not, I would press for these as they can make a big difference.

For accurate information about IC, I suggest the Patient Handbook on this site (see link at the top of this page) and Dr. Robert Moldwin's book, "The Interstitial Cystitis Survival Guide."

Has anyone purchased Angela Kilmartin's book which states her position that IC is caused by a bacteria mycoureaplasma? If so, did you take Prosed DS?
