Only One Part Of My Bladder Is Irritated

When I had my first cysto done on 09/15/06 my urologist said that only the back part of my bladder is irritated. He said I had a very large red patch in the back of my bladder. Does the entire bladder have to be irritated to IC? Has anyone else experienced this?

Hey there.
When I saw my cystoscopy done yesterday I saw only a few patches of irritation. My Uro seemed to think that it was consistant with IC, and from what I've heard around here, each person is different. Some bladders may be completely irritated, some may have patches. I think you sound normal. Well.... at least normal for IC :)

You can have mild to severe case of IC.

I guess your right froelica everyone is different. I am getting anxious about my upcoming cysto and biopsy but I know I need to have this done to get some answers.

I think we all feel like that. All we can do is keep positive and keep things in perspective, its a painful, chronic condition, but it sure could be a whole lot worse!

When I had my first hydro/cysto (which was about 6 months after my original symptoms began) the only area that was nasty looking was the trigone. Then, about a year later, I had another one done with a different uro. With that one, my entire bladder was a raging mess!! I wonder if it starts out small and spreads??? I had never really thought about that until reading your post...I'd be curious to know if this has happened to anyone else. Or, maybe my IC wasn't flaring as bad on the first one as the second??? Although I typically don't have "flares"; mine just hurts all the time.
