I just saw Dr. Baker, as recommended by Dr. MOldwin. He has confirmed that I have vulvodynia put still cannot diagnose the pelvic pain. I was still too inflamed and red in my vaginal area and he did not want to cause me more pain. He suggested I take a drug called noritriptiline ( i dont no if i spelled this right). He said that should help with the vulvodynia and to come back in 7 weeks and perhaps then he an examine me further for the pelvic pain.

Has anyone else take this drug? How are the side effects, and how much weight can I expect to gain? I also am still taking the valium that Dr. Moldwin had recommended for the pelvic pain so now I am waiting for them to discuss it with eachother on wether I should take them both at the same time or wean off the valium. I am really worried about becoming too groggy taking both, I have two kids to take care of.

Dr. Baker then suggested that further down the road, considering my history of fibromyalgia, ibs and now vulvoynia, he may want me to consult with a neurologist. Has anyone else gone this route?

I took nortryptyline (not sure about the spelling - the brand name is Pamelor) for 12 years, and that's all I needed to get relief from my IC. I had to go off it because I kept having to increase the dosage to get relief and the side effects (VERY dry mouth, mainly) were getting to me. After I stopped taking it, the IC pain returned, plus I ended up with vulvodynia to boot. Definitely try the nortryptyline. Even if you have to go off it eventually like I did, you might get long-lasting relief.
