Hi,
I just found out a couple of days ago that I probably have Interstitial Cystitis. I have testing next week to confirm. I have been doing a lot of browsing and talking to my friend/sister.
I find this all a bit overwhelming and yet it is nice to know that my symptoms over the past couple of years have a source. I have had people ask if I am diabetic or something because I use the potty so much.
The doc recommended that I try sinaquin but I read the side effects and it scared me. Has anyone tried that med and if so will you please let me know what you think of the med?
Thanks

I just want to say "Hi". I also was asked if I was diabetic while I was in the hospital. I don't know about the medicine you are taking, maybe someone else here can help you with that answer.

I know it can get overwhelming when you are told you might have IC. But there are things you can do to help yourself. Learning those things can help you not feel so helpless.

Hugs, Trishann

:welcome: to the IC Network. I suggest you have a look at the Patient Handbook at http://www.ic-network.com/handbook There's a lot of helpful information there. And one thing you could do right now is to put yourself on an IC diet. It could very well help your symptoms.

Hi and welcome :grouphug:

The others have given you great advice already. However, I'll put my two cents in on the Sinequan question.....

Sinequan is a drug used for depressive diseases, bipolar disorder, and/or depression associated with another disease (like your IC -- if you are depressed about it). While many IC patients take antidepressants because they can actually have pain relieving properties, I have not heard of anyone taking Sinequan for IC specifically and singularly. There many be some people hiding on the boards here who've tried it.... but it seems a strange recommendation to me. You may want to ask your doctor WHY he/she prescribed this and if there is an alternative, as this is a pretty hefty psychotropic drug.

I did not know that Sinequan was used for anything except depression.

Glad you joined us.

I hope you get as much information and support as I do.
