my HIV test results

Well I was diagnosed 2 days after my birthday with IC. What a birthday present huh.? I also had my blood drawn on my birthday for HIV and I passed out on the floor. What a wussie I am. Anyways figuring ic, ibs-cc, bacteria vaginosis, hair falling out, pelvic inflammatory diesease and weight loss with permiscuous sex I had HIV. Got the results today with non-responsive on both test. It was negative. What a sigh of relief. But I was wondering is an hiv test the same as an aids test. Do I have aids already and it doesn't show hiv. I am very confused. I think you have to have any kind of hiv antiboties to have aids right. Don't know. If anyone knows it would be good to let me know so I can get an aids test. thank you

To the best of my knowledge you must first be positive for the HIV virus. For some people it doesn't progress, for others it can turn into full blown AIDS.

For a better understanding, google HIV and/or AIDS. Look for legitimate sites through medical resources. I am sure you may find a number of reliable answers.

Also, thank goodness for the outcome, right? But, I do hope it is enough of a reminder that safe sex is the only way. We don't even want you to deal with IC, so take good care of yourself, okay? :)

If you tested negative for HIV, it means that you don't have AIDS. Have you been scheduled for follow-up testing? If there's any doubt at all, most facilities will test again in a few months just to be certain.

Scientist's opinion -- No, you do not have AIDS if you are serologically negative for HIV.

If you worry, go back in 3 months to be retested.

thank you so much. The only time I had unprotected sex was 5 years ago so I think that window period is pretty much closed that I don't have hiv. will be tested again in 6 months. but I highly doubt that hiv is what is making me sick now with hair loss bacteria vaginoses and other things. My gyno said it could be autoimmune or something. thank you for your reassurance again.
