Hi Jules!
I've lost quite a bit of weight this year, and can't figure out why. There could be lots of reasons, I think it's probably a combination of things. Here's what I've been doing:
Stopped sodas, lattes, most juices (I mostly drink water. It's very dull)
Started doing yoga 2 x per week
Stopped birth control pills
Generally eating less foods buy eating more and smaller meals, and not going for seconds (it was hard at first, but I'm used to it now). I remind myself how good the food is and how nice it will be for leftovers.
Eating organic foods as I can afford them
Reducing the amount of processed foods I eat (chips, cookies, cereals, etc.) and try to eat more whole foods (vegetables, meat, rice)
For breakfast, I usually have brown cow brand yogurt with cascadian farm brand granola OR kashi brand shredded wheat with 1% organic milk. Sometimes I make bran muffins which are good too!
For lunch, I often have dinner leftovers. I get bored with sandwiches.
For dinner, we make everything from salads (I use mostly herbed olive oil dressing) to soups and stews to stir fry (low on the soy sauce)... the key is we vary it up. I get the Rachel Ray food magazine and try to just reduce tomatoey or vinegary ingredients.
I often have dessert, just not lots of it. I used to eat a bowl of ice cream, now I eat a cup. It still does the trick. I don't deny myself much, because then I just get hungrier and go off track.
I'm not sure this info will help, but it was worth a shot! Good luck!

Thanks for the great advice. I eat pretty healthy at home, but at work they have a free buffet. :evilsmile . So i just need to start making better food choices. My husband suggests that i eat sandwiches there. The problem is that i usually get a snack before work there plus my dinner, and I grow bored with the sandwiches too. I'll try some of your tips though. Thanks again, :help: Jules

Actually Weight Watchers is not very difficult to adapt to an IC diet. I'm thinking about going back. I was losing weight very well on their point plan, but the meetings were 45 minutes away and I just kind of dropped out for a while. They now have meetings much closer so I've been considering it.

Jules,
Good Luck and Congrats on your 10 pound loss. My best friend has been on WW since June 2003. By June 2004 she had lost 99 pounds. She still has about 15-20 pounds to go before she is where she wants to be. I know WW works because I have seen the results.

I've been trying to lose weight but it keeps finding me. I recently started on the Core Weight Watchers. There's no counting points, which helps me. But there is a rather lengthy list of foods you can eat - until you are satisfied. I really need the support of others doing the same thing. Exercising is the problem for me.
I was doing really well for about 2 weeks and then I started a flare and just couldn't do it. I walk a treadmill and read or listen to books on tape to pass the time which helps a lot.
I also, have been doing Weight Watchers on line. There are boards, like these. It's fun to look for recipes, too. I'm not doing as well as when I went to meetings, but one more thing to do is not going to help at this point.
Being able to go on line when I have the time is great.
You can also record your food choices and weigh in - honor system.
I'm so frustrated with the weight gain. I never thought I would have a problem.
Peace Maggie

Maggie,
Would it help if you talk to someone who has been on WW for 3 years and has lost the weight and who is now considered a "Lifetime member"? If so, please let me know. I could get in touch with my friend who has lost lots of weight usinig WW and see if maybe she would mind if you email her for some helpful hints and advice.

I don't know if this would be good or not, but I saw a show on TV last night about extreme weight loss. A woman eats in reverse. She eats her big meal for breakfast (anything you would eat for supper). She did chicken or any meat, veggies, potatoes. Then for lunch she ate something a little lighter like a salad or soup. Then she ate something very light for supper like a bowl of cereal. She stopped eating mostly at about 3 in the afternoon. If she wanted anything to snack on she would have some veggies. She lost ALOT of weight like this. She has done it for 7 years and kept the weight off. She cooked her big meal early in the morning, but you can always cook the night before and warm it up in the morning. I liked the idea of eating whatever you want for breakfast, because I feel limited sometimes on breakfast foods. It sounds like a good plan. I think I may try this out.

Wow, a free buffet a work? That sounds awesome!! But, would be really tempting. Congrats to you for getting your 10lb ribbon!
I've also heard that in many cultures, the largest meal is breakfast, with a lighter dinner. I think the reasoning is you have time during the day to burn the food off, and your metabolism is running higher in the morning.
Good luck and hang in there!

I've achieved life time twice for weight watchers. I'm kind of shy, so the meetings help to a degree. When I go on the boards, though I get lots of help and I don't have to get dressed and go out. The other two sisters in my house are happy to be eating a healthy diet with ww. I cooked a roast today with garlic and thyme in a powdered dip envelope. It had great flavor. I like my beef a little les cooked, so I change that part next time;
Peace
Maggie
This will be the last I type, it's a struggle holding on to my thought patterns. I'll just lurk around. I took ambien a few minutes ago and it usually strips me of any coherencey/
