ive been getting serverly bad unriny tract infections since i was 2.. ive had numours tests done and they still havnt found a reason for all this.
i cant stand being in so much pain everyday.
i have at least 2 infections a week. its unfair and its causing depression im only 18 years old and i dont kno how much more i can do. im about to give up on myself. its so hard to deal with.
ive seen doctors& more doctors and nothing yet? =[
can anyone suggest anything to get me through ? ?

Are your doctors doing cultures to determine which antibiotic will be most effective for you? If you're actually having infections, you may not have interstitial cystitis.

Hi Sam and welcome to the gang! I too am glad you found the ICN, I am sure you can find something helpful around here!! I gather they have been sending you to urologists?? As Donna said, have they been culturing your urine?? If it comes back clean, (no infection) what else have they thought of? Maybe you should bring up the possibility of IC if everything else has not shown anything.

Well, once again, welcome to the ICN, very nice to meet you! And have you tried a heating pad when things are uncomfortable? That always helped me!! At something you can use until you get some kind of answers for what's going on with you!!!! Are you scheduled for another Dr appt at all any time soon???

Hi there.
Um yeh well most times my urine comes back clean. a few its grown some things but most of the time it comes back fine, ive had xrays and ultra sounds and a few other things.
and most of the antibiotics arnt working cause i get immune to them cause ive had all antiobiotics since i was 2 years old
I use heat packs everyday and im also having about 5 baths a day cause that sumtimes helps with the pain.
I see this urologist and he's quite good sometimes, but he still doesnt have the answers to why im still having these problems.
would it be best if i go to a few urologist to get second opionions?
I really need help with this cause i cant keep living a normal life when im not exaclty normal myself.:confused:
The pain is driving me insane to a point where i sit in the bath all day and cry till i fall asleep.
Its painful.
I was at the hospital last night cause i had a really bad one. they tested my urine and it came back clean they did blood tests and they came back normal too. so i really dont kno what i have.

Hi Sam,

I'm so sorry you're going through this! Many of us have been at that point where one's bladder makes you miserable day after day. It's just awful!

I thought I was having infections for a long time when it was actually IC. The doctors I saw had no idea why this was happening to me and also continued to suspect & treat me for infections even though tests came back clean. I agree with Tracey, if your tests are coming back clean I would mention the possibility of IC to your doctor. And if your 'gut feeling' tells you the doc just blew that suggestion off (it happens), and they have no other possibilities to explore, it might be time to go for that second opinion!

Meanwhile, it sure couldn't hurt to try the IC diet found in the handbook. If it is IC, that one simple step may ease some of your symptoms.

It's so hard to be where you are right now! I want you to know if you do have IC, most of us do go on to find treatment that helps. Hang in there!

Yeh i just dont think the doctors dont want to deal with me.
I have had this problem for 16 years. and it drags me down every single day non stop.
Its hard to do the things i love while having this problem.
Would antidepressants help ?
And could anyone suggest any other medication that may help ?
I have been on every antibiotic u could think of and its not doing me any good.
i was in hospital not long ago for really bad stomach pains.and the cause of those pains were because my stomch lining was being eaten away from the anibiotics its not doing me any good.
And i honestly dont know what else to try or do.
Every doctor or hospital i go to. must be getting sick of me being there by now.
Its like my second home.

I dont kno what else to do to get rid of this pain.

Sam, I would definitely get a second opinion and/or bring up the possibility of IC to your doctor as soon as possible! There are medications that can help manage the symptoms if it is IC - sounds like they have put you through all the testing and come up with nothing.

t certainly would not hurt read up all you can on IC and bring up the possibility to your doctor. That was the only way I started getting treatment for what my doc and I kept thinking were urinary tract infections.

I also agree with Vicki - start the IC diet as soon as you can. That one thing can go sooooo very far in helping symptoms and it may help you cope with them until you find out what's going on!!!!!

Don't give up even if your doctors do, lol - keep pushing for some kind of diagnosis, be it IC or not.
