I was diagnosed with IC today. Worried about the hair falliing out thing ~ My doctor prescribed Elmiron for me. I read alot about being tired with IC. This is going to be terrible. I have a sleeping disorder called narcolepsy with cataplexy.... As if I'm not sleepy enough! Any input about IC would be helpful. This is new to me and Im trying to learn as much as possible about it. :confused: :help:

Geez, it sounds like you have a lot on your plate already to have to add IC to the mix! I don't know that being tired is a side effect of Elmiron. The hair loss possibility kind of had me worried too, but I didn't experience that. From what I've read, the actual percentage for hair loss is really, really low. I did have problems with sleepiness with the amitriptyline & hydroxyzine (commonly prescribed for IC). Hopefully your doctor will take your other conditions into consideration when managing your IC treatment.

The handbook is a really good place to start on this site if you haven't been there yet. Lots of great IC info, diet, self help tools, etc! There's a link to it at the top of the site's pages.

Hello!!!! :hi: Welcome to the board!! Try not to worry too much about the hair thing...only a very small amount of people will experience that....It may also take up to 6 months to see any results so hang in there..:bunny:

Hello--how were you diagnosed--by symptoms or some physical sign of IC? The good new is it goes in remission...so life can become normal again...you found the right place to vent and commiserate...the folks here are great. Welcome and realize life goes on!
