View Full Version : What to do about refills...
I am just going to vent here and see if anyone has any ideas...I just moved here, so i go to the pharmacy to get refills on the lortab and soma. I had 3 refills on each. I go to pick them up today and she said it would be $88.00! I told her that where i lived before they was about $15-20.00 each. She ran it thru the computer and said..no..thats the price. I told her to hold them for a few days. I also ask her if she has my pres bottles that i brought in and she said NO that they throw those away when they fill the pres. I told her i wanted the bottles back, because i knew the pres were cheaper when i had got them before! She said..Sorry!!So i come home and call walmart, their prices are about the same, i told her my story about them being $15-20.00. She said well, there has been a price increase. So, i hang up and i call the other town i just moved from and i get a price check...They said one was $16.60 and the other was $20.64. So i ask if i can get them refilled there, and i explained the whole story...He said NO!!! Because when CVS called to get the pres. refilled, somehow, my pres. got transfered!! So he said the only way i can do it is to go back to the dr and have him write me another pres, and bring it to him and then they will fill it.!!! Yikes...i was just at the drs office, the town is 60 miles away and the pharmacy is another 20 from that town!!! Something about TEXAS LAWS and it being a controlled substance. What do i do about my refill bottles? What is to stop them from using the refills??? I have not got a new PCP here, i hate to break in a new dr!!( i am already having to deal with a new URO) This one has been good about helping me with the pain meds, but i have been seeing him for 2 years! And i do not know how long it would take to find another dr, who believes in the pain caused by FMS!I could just scream! I never thougt it would be that much of a price differance....Any ideas..let me know...thanks for letting me vent...is there a venting post??

Yikes, that is a mess, sorry you have to go through this mess.
I am not for sure, but you can still have your RX transfer. The Pharmacy you want can call them and get it. I hope this will work out for you. I had done this before, and I hope it will work for you.

One thing you might do is to telephone your doctor's office and tell them what happened and ask if they can re-write the prescription. Can your old pharmacy call the new one and have the prescription transferred back to them?
Good luck!
Donna
Trishann-thanks for the reply. I ask the pharmacy if i could have it transfered back to them and he said No, because in texas, i am only allowed one transfer. So when i dropped them off to get refilled, CVS called to make sure i really had 3 refills left, and somehow, the whole thing got transfered.!! So the pharmacy that i was going too, said i have to get a new prescripition! :cussing:
That just shows how brain dead i am, i will call the doctors office and see what they can do.Eastland Pharmarcy said they could not have it transfered back, because of texas laws, only one transfer allowed.I figured i would have to call for an appt, but did not think to explain it to them first, the drs office could call it it to the eastland pharamcy...Thanks for the help...sometimes i need lots of it!

Jeannie:
The doctor should be able to call the other pharmacy and get it straighten out. I know my friend who has fibro did this with a Wal-mart store and HEB store because it was more convenient but then she realized that the HEB was cheaper. Between the doctors and myself we were able to switch it back. It did take a few days and lots of calls but we did it. I never heard of this and I also live here in Texas. Wonder when this law took effect?
