My doctor gave me Vesicare 5mg to treat the urgency/frequency. I have been taking it for almost two weeks but so far it has done absolutely nothing to help me. I am wondering if anyone else on this board has been helped by it. IF so, how long did it take to kick in. I am just so fustrated.
Thanks

I tried Vesicare for at least a few months. I've tried several bladder control meds- the lastest one I'm trying is Enablex. The good news with Vesicare is that it seems to have the least side effects (ie, I still had some spit.) My doc says Ditropan works the best but also has the worse side effects. To be honest, I haven't had a single one work on me. In my opinion, frequency is a result of pain- pain makes you go more often and shrinks the size of your bladder. The only thing that makes me go less often is pain med.

It usually takes about two weeks of use on a once a day dose of a OB med to see some results. You could also try a little heavier dose?
A Urologist once told me that most IC'ers dont do very well on OB meds, she didnt say why that was? A lot of people on this board seem to take Detrol?

I had to go up to 10 mg and at times 15mg. BUt for me, controlling my spasms controls much of my bladder leakage. I currently take 10mg and have been on Vesicare since March.
The good thing about this drug is you can go to their website and they will send you a packet of information which includes coupons. I haven't had to pay for my prescription since April! They just keep sending me more $25 coupons to give the pharmacist!!! What a deal!
