I have a couple of questions about PFD and IC.

1. What if you have all the IC symptoms except for having to go at night?

I've only had two nights where I felt like I really had to go, and that was only once in the night. Can you have IC and not have the nocturia? In fact, I really don't even go that often during the day.

2. My other question is, if you have pelvic floor dysfuntion and not IC, can that be overcome with physical therapy, or is that a chronic condition as well?
Has anyone on this site only had PFD and not IC? My PT says that I have high-tone muscles that can't relax, and that's contributing to some of the pain. But does PFD have burning while urinating as one of its symptoms?

Are you affected by diet? That is big for IC!
Everyone experiences IC differently so a lot of things are possible but if you hit the area of more likely....that is a different story.

I've really been watching the diet over the past week or two, and the symptoms have seemed to get better. I don't have nearly as much bladder pain but lots more urethral pain, mostly just when I finish going. Then it kicks in and hurts for about a minute after. I did eat some ranch dressing today at lunch but did not have any symptoms after (yeah!), and mistakenly even ate a few bites of tomato and was fine. I guess the real test may be to drink a Coke and see if it hits me then. I'm really just not sure about if diet is hurting me or not, but I'm too afraid to go off it and find that it did help by avoiding some things, since this "flare" lasted a month. The last two days have been really good, except for the burning when peeing, so I'm very thankful! In fact, I walked around all day today, shopping with a friend, and didn't think about my bladder a single time. It was soooo nice! So, I don't know if it's the Cystoprotek, the diet, or my hormonal status at the current time that is helping to feel better, but whatever it is, I'm loving it! :smile tee

one of the common symptoms of PFD is urethral discomfort which would get worse after straining to go.
Basically what your saying to me sounds like the diet is helping your IC but your not yet treating the PFD. Hope you feel better soon!

I guess I am getting treatment for it. I go to physical therapy twice this week and will have the e--stim. I'm guessing it's for PFD, though nobody has really come out and said that's what it is for. Doing keagles tends to aggravate my bladder, but I keep doing them anyway.

I'm not sure if I'm feeling better due to the diet, the Cystoprotek, or because I'm on the third day of my cycle. I guess I'll find out as time goes by.

Thanks, Katrina!
