Macrodantin and/or dialation

Macrodantin and/or dialation? Anyone heard of this theory.....it sounds like a crock of crap to me that either one (or both) would cause IC....

but if there is some truth to please share...I'd love to hear how...
on the other hand, it really is sad how much misinformation ir potentially out on teh web....

I hear you - I also heard on the internet that using a vibrator or masturbating causes IC. And I heard just being a "nervous person" causes it. Rolls eyes.

You see, kids, masturbating not only causes hairy palms and blindness, but the internet tells us that it also causes IC :tsk:

Anyway, I could see how either Macrodantin or urethral dialation could cause a flare, but, I also can't really think of them as things that would cause IC.

Interesting....My IC got worse after taking Macrodantin/and macrobd...if I go back in time and think the BEFORE and AFTER
BEFORE Macrodantin my IC was very mild.
AFTER Macrodantin my IC got worse...but a few things happened at the time:
I got my 5ht UTI, I used macrobid to treat it (first time I used it) then my IC got worse, but of course I think it was the damage the bacteria did to my bladder and all teh inflamation ect.
Still it makes me wonder.....
I'll see my uorlogist in a few days and mention it. She will probbably think I'm nuts.
BTW where did the theory come from?

The article I read was put together by an educated woman....and otherwise seemed right on the money and then the last paragraph.....honestly.....just blew my mind. So, it piqued my interest if anyone else had heard of this....hmmmmm. :confused:

It might have come from the book by Larrian Gillespie but don't quote me on it. She wrote "You don't have to live with Cystitis". If I have it at home I will look it up for you.

We were told in our support group at least 15 years ago that macrodantin, erthromycin and one other antibiotic could make IC symptoms worse.

Masturbation causes IC? Well no wonder I have it so bad. Hee hee.....

I've never heard about the microdantin/microbid theory, but I have taken truckloads of both and also had the dilations when I was a teen. All I remember is that I've had bladder problems my whole life.
