I am eating organic graham crackers....but I miss popcorn my comfort food......is Air popped with butter and a tad of salt an okay thing ??? ...hey I am in week 2 of a flare and starving !! although it seems vanilla ice crm is okay..but how much chicken and carrots can a person eat...what about homemade white bread...? I've been reading labels lately, everything has soy! wow! what about this soy lethicin ?As far as the diet-so you try something for 48 hrs see if it makes things worse then add another thing from the usually okay column? how does one really know if it is bad?pain? pee? questions from a IC :) newbie in "what twilight zone am I in now?!"
Soy lecithin & soy oil are usually not a problem for us.

Whole foods is a really good place to find snacks without most of the junky additives you find in...well, everything really. I just shopped there recently and bought some Newman's own organic microwave popcorn to try. There are no partially hydrogenated oils, or trans fats, and you can get it with butter, light butter, or just plain. If you're still figuring out your own diet needs it's probably best to get the plain popcorn and just add your own butter a little at a time.:)

I have no problem with air popped popcorn with real butter and salt, twizzlers(black)licorice, cashews and Snyders pretzels. My real treat is a Vanilla Bean Frappacino from Starbucks.

thank you thank you thank you! after a horriffic nite of pain I've decided to just eat fairly normal except nothing from the no no list...nothing I seem to be eating seems to help with the pain anyway! I'm losing weight like crazy and even though I was working on that issue anyway-not this fast.

Lavender,
I found my new comfort food by accident this week -- a good friend of mine through another area of my life was up visiting and brought some wonderful tasting wheat pretzel snacks. I was going to have her bring me a bag next time she comes up, however, I was at Sam's Club (and I know these are available in regular stores as well) and they sold Rold Gold Honey Wheat twisted pretzels.
When I was reading the bag, some of the things I look for are NO TRANS FATS -- they are equal to the worst thing you can eat. I also look for low sugar and try to find things with a balance of Carbs, Fiber and Proteins.
Well, this was amazing to me -- these are a good, sturdy, crunchy pretzel, and it has low sugar, relatively low carbs but does have fiber and proteins too.
The best part -- 19 pretzels is a serving size -- that is HUGE since these pretzels are large. I ate one serving with two hard boiled eggs yesterday and I thought I had eaten my lunch. I don't know if you can do eggs or not, so that is something you can change -- but I am now considering having them with cottage cheese, yogurt, or the eggs as a part of my daily routine.
I love comfort food -- and for me that is normally something bread-like -- that is what seems to help to calm me when I am either aggitated or have an upset stomach. So, the pretzels do that for me, and they are wheat, not white, so I don't get the white bread carbs and cravings that come with it.
Check them out! I also found a wonderful bread -- it is made locally but I am sure you can find something similar -- this is a multigrain bread with all kinds of seeds in it -- flax, sesame, etc... and it is just so tasty -- and of course, not white! So, a slice of that with some cherry butter or honey or some such topping is also a nice comforting snack -- I doubt it will last long here -- too tasty to let it set on the counter!
Anyhow, I hope others will check these out too... I just love them and when you see how many a serving size is, you will be amazed -- it is plenty to curb a hunger pain and give a nice snack when you are just craving something!

All Bran Granola Bars are good. They have brown sugar and cinnamin.
I like to Vallina Tootsie Rolls too! Just tried them. They delicious.

One think I like is put almonds, cashews, and white chocolate chips in a zipper bag together. You get the salty and the sweet together.
I also like honey mixed with butter to dip bread in.
If you can have cream cheese there is a brown sugar, cinnamon cream cheese that is good on toast.
Just a few ideas.

RICE KRISPIE TREATS! Yummmmmmmmmm! :D
Yeah, it's totally weird how I can't eat most commercial cereals, but I can eat the pre-made Rice Krispy Treats! They're full of not-good things for you, but my bladder isn't bothered by them... So, hooray!
