No idea.
But I use the Heather's Tummy Tammers Acacia Fiber everyday now and my constipation is Gone! Try that, they sell it on this website.

As far as I know, they treat for pelvic floor disorder and that can help constipation. For me, the treatment is causing diarrhea, which aggravates the PFD. I don't know what anal PT would do to help constipation, but I'm no doc or PT.

I just had 5 weeks of pelvic floor physical therapy. It was all external work focusing on the muscles in my back, legs, hips, glutes. It helped with pain, frequency, ease of voiding and constipation. No insertion of anything in the vagina or anus, all external. The constriction of weakened muscles was causing the difficulties, so the exercises focused on strengthening & relaxing.

I've had physical therapy before, but only vaginal work was done.

no, i think generally in women they go in through the vagina to work on your pelvic floor and work to release and reset the muscles so that they function properly. my understanding is that, in turn, helps both urinary and bowel functioning because the pelvic floor muscles underly both those areas. that is a rudimentary understanding and explanation, but having had three stints of Pt...i get the basic gist!

The only therapy I had for my pfd was estim, which is internal, but with a probe. No fingers. :-) I really think it helped with both pain and with strengthening the muscles. My problem was that I couldn't relax my muscles, but with only 3 treatments, I've learned to really get those babies to chill out. I feel much better!

I had PT for constipation. It is the same exercises that you learn for strengthing your pelvic floor. There is a tinge unit that can be used and the probes are placed just slightly inside the anal opening. PT did not help my constipation.

lidocaine instillations worked for me.

There would definatly be lots of choices to avoid it but I do believe that there are also options that can include it if all else fails. I doubt it would be considered very fast with a woman.
